How to put the "snap" back into your knife!

Here is what I would call a few odd questions! How do you put the snap back in an old knife? What actually on the knife gives it that strong snap? Does a knife with a weaker snap mean lesser quality? I have tried 3 in 1 oil an a few of them, and it seems to help a bit, but what would work better? Thank you!!

The backspring is what places tension on the blade and causes it to snap into either the open or closed position. After a lot of use, and a lack of oil the blade will wear where it contacts the spring, causing it to lose its snap. To restore the snap, either the blade or backspring has to be build up. Most knife people refer to the snap as walk and talk.
