Wanted: Reputable Knife Mechanic To Take Over Kabar Folders

Post by Elvis »

Hi Folks,

You may have noticed that I've announced my retirement from knife repair for health and financial reasons and as much as I dislike doing so, I must find a reputable knife repairman to take over the job of Kabar's folder repair. You can just have it and we'll notify the company together or we can still do that and you can purchase my stock of Kabar parts knives, reference material and blades and backsprings, many of which have never seen the inside of a knife. It really isn't the biggest burden I have in knife repair, but turning it over to someone with the proper skills and the ability to treat the customer "as if" you worked for Kabar is very important. Simply put, you will be your own man (or woman) and the charges will be totally up to you, but please remember that in a sense, you represent a knife brand that has many loyal followers and a lot of old knives passed-down from father to son will come your way. I will also be available for advice as much as possible. Please be aware that other knife work will come your way because of the association with Kabar as customers often ask if you can fix other knives as well, but it just isn't a good fit for me any longer.

Please think carefully before you decide to consider this position for all the reasons I mentioned above, but mainly for your own reputation. It can add to it or ruin it depending on how it is handled. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Stay sharp!

Yep Justin, it's so. I ain't going anywhere though. Our arrangement of occasional support and your friendship isn't in question here. Just my work load Bro.

The postiion of Repairman for Kabar's Folding Knives is being taken over by someone else right now on a 2 month basis for him to evaluate whether it is a good fit. That gives me time to finish healing from recent eye surgery and gives a break-in period for "The New Guy". Wish us both luck and hope it's a smooth transition.
