looking for advice r203

The Remington Corporation and the knives that they built have influenced the U.S. cutlery industry more than nearly any other manufacturer. From the time America was settled, to the end of WWI, American knife companies struggled to compete with Britain and German imports, but events that occurred during and after the First World War led to a great change in this phenomenon. Unprecedented opportunities arose, and Remington stepped up to seize the moment. In the process, they created some of today's most prized collectables. In an ironic twist, the next World War played the greatest role in ending the company’s domination of the industry.

looking for advice r203

Post by chetr1200c »

i posted this knife in the q&a forum and although i did recieve some advice it isn't exactly what i was looking for. the cracked scale is a given, no second guessing on that.
i own 3 other r203's and they all have the spear blade with the swedge cut on both sides. this knife has the swedge only on the shield side. i have a few of the old pal blade co. easy opens that have the swedge on the shield side only.

accepting the fact that this is still a remington, but probably put together after 1940. my question is this:
did remington put out r203's with both the single and double swedge? that one is hard for me to find any research on except for what i own.. i have seen different shields on that pattern.
thank you
