Old Marbles ad

Here's a nice old ad for Marble's fixed blades from an Outdoor Life, Dec. 1952. I picked up, the only Marble's I have, from inside an outdoors work shed. The old boy whose estate was being liquidated was using it as a putty knife. It is a Woodcraft, mdl. 49. It cleaned up real well though, I made a sheath for it , and it goes out elk hunting every year with me. Dale H.

Very cool ...

I got almost as big a kick out of reading the article next to it, as I did the ad!

But that knife was a sweet find to be sure - congratulations.

Thanks Edge Ya know, you mentioned the story next to the ad. Perhaps it's nostalgia, I'm not quite sure, those stories of hunts took place during a different era. But Wow, those stories are great to read. Those JOURNALISTS could really write a story. I've quit buying hunting and fishing mags of today. Stories might be all of 3/4 of a page, and most of that is to promote the products ( which costs deeper than my pocket book goes ) these journalists are using on their paid for by multiple providers trip. Essentially, I guess I'm saying, not worth the price of the paper it's printed on. Oh well, I'm glad you enjoyed the ad as well as the story. Thanks, Dale

Yes;by all means post more of them. I will pick up the occasional mid-50's magazine(I really have way too many now)and look for the ads for the Amazing Black Beauty Italian Stiletto or even better the Corrado Cutlery Co in Chicago Illinois.I don't know if Jim Corrado is still with us but he used to advertise some fantastic knives of all types. I'm not entirely sure but I think he became a knife maker as well. I'll have to dig a few out and post them.
