Who makes this knife??!!

I picked this up at a flea market a few weeks ago. The only thing I can tell for sure is that it was made in the USA and appears to be a fairly nice knife. I can barely make out the manufacturer name on the tang. For some reason, someone has sanded the name off the blade. You can still barely read it and it appears to be a Winchester. I would love to know for sure and how old it is. Any other info would be appreactiated also. I know some of you experts can tell who makes it by looking at it! Thank you!

i can't say if it'd a winchester but sometimes mfgrs ground their name off of seconds and sold them cheaply.

It looks alot like a Camillus knife to me. Certainly not an original Winchester, as Delrin wasn't in use until long after Winchester quit making knives. Could also be an offshore Winchester ( or other brand ) with a blade replacement. Tough call.

Based on the tooling I would say its a KUTMASTER. That would fit with the ER being visible. Try googling the name and see - they may still show a similar pattern on their website.

Thank you! After looking at the Tang with a more powerful magnifying glass, I think it is a Kutmaster! Too bad it is not a Winchester as I am sure they are better knives!!

Any body here ever EDC a kutmaster? Just curious as to their quality and how they hold up up normal use? Their ad says made in the USA. Are they along the lines of an older Schade?

Those scales looked very familiar, I pulled out my RIGID muskrat and sure enough, they (scales) look almost the same! Different Shield pattern though, still a bomb style but more oblong with "Rigid" written right on it..., would almost say the same company manufactured both knives.

Do we pay for the brand names or is there actually a different amount of quality & craftsmanship that goes into each brand name knife that is made by the same manufacturer?

Speaking of craftsmanship & who made it?.....
I know Schrde made some of the Sears Craftsman knives about early 80s. I have a 60th Anniversary (of Craftsman name) lockback in clamshell package I would like to ask if anyone knows who manufactured it for Sears/Crafstman.
Anniversary dates 1927-1987. Front tang stamp "SEARS" over "Craftsman" over "U.S.A. 95114". Rear tang blank. 3 5/8OALc single bolster with phenolic laminated wood handles Package descrip includes "stainless steel blade w/ exclusive A.C.A. (?) EDGE (trademarkR)....the sharpest knives we sell."
Stock number top right corner of package small underlined 9 followed by same number as on tang 95114.
Handle resembles my Marbles Gamegetter handled fixed blade.
I can post a picture later if needed, just arrived so no pics yet.
Figured for $20 total be about equal to $1/yr storage fee & the knife is free! lol (1987-2007).

that's 2 more cents than I had on my own! I'm not familiar with Western brand at all so guess I have some homework to do.
I did visit your site briefly,need to revisit when I have more time.
Only repair project I have in the wings is for a little Schrade Walden 708 found lying hurt in a parking lot back in the early 80s.
Main injury is one bolster missing on smaller pen blade backside. End of liner at edge of backspring mashed down toward opposite liner just a little. Makes pen tight when first start closing blade. Master clip blade missing very end of tip probably before run over. Reshaped it using small honing stone. As master clears shoulder of pen, you can feel it "give". Have to conciously lift master straight up , not just pushing nail into pull, to avoid the give when blade edge clears pen shoulder.

Other than that and the scratched shield it's like Gnu!! :0
Probably best to just keep it doing what it's doing now, filling in days as the EDC when I'm too tired to lug around that heavy monster 22087 jack lol.
I'm guessing labor & shipping be more than it's worth. Lightweight and cuts great, what more could I want from a lil ole beat up EDC??
Would look better w/ 4th bolster tho
