Rare "Faglet" Sold On Ebay......And You Missed It!

Post by RobesonsRme.com »

A recently completed Ebay auction resulted in this so-called "FAGLET" folding pocketknife being sold for $31.00.

FAGLET is how the seller described the tang stamp.

I'm reasonably sure most of you will recognize it for what it really is.

I must admit I don't recognize it, but it's a heck of a nice looking knife and somebody who did recognize it probably got a great deal on it.

I did see that one and bid on it but I thought that it was a German brand...guess I missed something....

It just hit me....EAGLETON?

But I have no idea as to the history of that brand...

Eagleton Knife Co. is correct. 1875 - 1900. They were the importer.

Made by Wester & Butz, a German manufacturer.

Goins only provides the name and dates.
Levine says the knives were made by Wester & Butz of Germany and states 1890's.

For some reason that I cannot recall, I knew in the back of my mind that Eagleton was a nineteenth century knife company. I wasn't aware of the German connection.
