Busted: The ebay police...

Post by Joe Dirt »

Here is the Schrade Presto auto letter opener that showed up at auction on this past Monday, 9/26/11.
On Tuesday morning the price was at $128.50, and I merely became a spectator!
By Tuesday evening it was at $235.78!!!
Wednesday it was GONE ::mdm::
There's no way in the world I would have bid that much on that knife!

Whenever I see an auto, I always make note of the seller and usually "watch" a different item of there's,
with a note attached in reference to the knife that is vulnerable to the "bay cops."

I have had VERY GOOD luck in contacting them about the knife that was canceled, and made purchase!!

Best bet is for the seller to put it on with a buy it now and hope to complete the transaction before they get caught. ::nod:: Not that I would buy or sell one that way. ::sneaky::

And I can't even get by sellin' a freakin BOKER MATIC!

The MORONS at ebay pulled my auction for a Bokermatic after two days.
Threatened my seller account, said I couldn't sell "switchblades".
So I punch the button to instant message a service rep.
Explained what a BOKERMATIC was: MANUALLY OPEN, spring closed.
"We'll look into it" the service rep says...
Later:
service rep says "you can't sell automatic knives"
Me: "This knife does not open automatically. The spring is opposing me when I open it"
ReP: "OTF, out the front, knives are not allowed on ebay"
Me: "I BOUGHT this one on ebay two months ago. You have five of them selling on ebay right now!"
Rep: "If you feel knives are being sold that are against ebay policy, report them and we will investigate"
One hour later after I've reported all BOKERMATIC knives selling on ebay.
Me: " My auction was pulled erroneously"
Rep: "Switchblades aren't allowed on eBay"
One week later, after checking to make sure that ALL knives I reported were still listed on ebay...
Me: "You're prejudiced against me, or my auction for some reason. Here are the five knives I reported last week, and they all are still there. Not a one was pulled. <link to knives> Not only that, but here is a list of all Bokermatics sold on Ebay for the past month <list included>.
Rep: "You are not being treated unfairly. OTF and switchblade knives are not allowed on eBay"
Me: "You can just @##$^%^^&$%*^&*&*(&^(), you !@#%$^%^^^%^&*^(*&((&())_(&^&$$"

For the next three months I reported EVERY BOKERMATIC KNIFE on ebay, SEVERAL TIMES (yep, sorry, that was me..)
NONE were ever pulled... NONE.... NOT ONE.... And some of them were BUY IT NOW listings that were on for 30 days!
However, I now take great joy in knowing that I get to be a big pain in the buttocks to the fine folks at ebay...
I like to PM the service reps just to talk with them when I get bored at night... ::mdm::

Seems like once you get on their *hit list, you are on it for a long, long, long, long time. I got on it several years back when I listed a mint, in the un-opened packge, Nichols, 1950's, cap pistol. They said I couldn't list it because it didn't have the little orange plug in the end of the barrel ::facepalm:: . What it boiled cown to, was, that even though it never came with a little orange plug, they felt I needed to open the mint package and put a little orange plug in the barrel.
I chose not to sell it on feebay. I always wished I would have had and address for them, so I could send them a BIG orange plug and tell them what THEY could do with it. Finally after 6 or 7 years, they must have stopped checking my auctions.

Yes, and now I will rat out anyone with a goofy user name like pigsticker.

It's not ratting someone out when the BOKERMATIC is PERFECTLY LEGAL to own and sell - even on EBAY. I am pointing out the fact that the ebay censors are too thickheaded to figure that out, yet too stubborn to admit they made a mistake.

The English language is obviously difficult to understand for some.

ha!,Then there's the potential problem of the package coming open in the mail..and someone freaks when they see a switchblade!..oh no!
I believe it's still a grey area sending one through the mail. ::shrug::

From what I've read it's not a grey area at all. It's flat out illegal to send a switchblade through the mail. Of course, so is going through a stopsign without coming to a complete stop. Even though it's illegal, it's not an uncommon occurance. 8)

If your gonna mail a switchblade thru the troubled US mail, mail it with the blade in the open position, just like you would store the knife! No chance of blade springing then! ::tu:: I have done many this way!!
