Barlow pocket knife prov ri

Post by Puckinthenet66 »

I have a two blade pocket knife. On the big blade it says prov ri. It had to have been atleast my grandfathers. It has a black handle with what looks like 3 pins in handle...any timeframe/value ideas? Reads BARLOW on both sides where knives swing out.

it is made by imperial out of providence rhode island, cicra 1940s, without actually seeing the tang stamp. but alas, no real monetary value...extreme sentimental value for you. i wish i had my grandfathers knife, i wouldn't care what condition it was in..what a treasure...

The Imperial stamps ARE documented as to specific time frames.

You have a great old knife that belonged to your Grandfather!!
You won't get enough money out of it to buy a 12 pack.
Keep that ol' puppy, DON'T clean it, let it show it's age and character.

That is a well made "solid" constructed knife. They used good steel back in those days.
It will sharpen-up like you won't believe!
Carry it and use it, like Grandad apparently did - it won't hurt it.

Oh ya - welcome to the forum!!!!
