World War !! Coast Guard Knife?

This is a pretty stout knife and it has bone handles. It's 4 3/8" long and the tang is stamped USCG 1944 Q5. Is this a Coast Guard Knife from 1944? Any idea who made the knife? Thanks Al

Made by Camillus. It wasn't Coast Guard issue, but was instead approved for use on lifeboats. They're a neat knife, and yours looks to be in decent condition for a user.

Picked this up at the fleamarket,Kutmaster 1944-796 Utica N.Y.USA..The wood is mint and great snap and half-stop.IT'S KINDA SAD THAT A FAMILY HAS TO GIVE THESE UP ::shrug::Disreguard the black handle knives can't get rid of'em
