Buckmaster

I have been looking for a Buckmaster for some time now but the prices I have seen on eBay have been a little higher than what I wanted to pay. I saw this one at auction recently and decide to bid what I thought was a fair price. Well, I won! It has been used but not abused and came with a lot of accompaniments that one might find useful for survival. I tried to capture these in the pictures, hope they turn out.

From what I have read, these Buck 184 knives have been/still are? used by Seal Team 6. Epoxy helps secure the over ¼” blade to the handle and the scabbard is fiberglass reinforced. A sharpening stone is built into the scabbard, but I don’t think it was used on this one. The anchor pins and Silva compass are standard issue from Buck along with a basic survival kit in the handle. I think the previous owner added the firesteel, carabiner with rope and leather lanyards.

The blade is slightly over 7 ½” by my measure with the whole knife being slightly over 12 ½” long. It has a nice weight and seems to be a rugged, well built tool. This one is pre-1986 from the ricasso stamping which I have pictured as well. It does have the regular sheathing marks on the back of the blade, which I read Buck will recoat for a fee. However, once you sheath it again the marks will be back so I’m just going to leave it as-is.
