This is what the knife looked like when I received it. was fairly beaten up.

First step was to pop the old handles off, just remove the heads of the rocker and butt pins with a drmel and they pop right off, remove the handle pins from the liners with a pair of pliers.

The old handles

Then the next step was to knock out the rocker and butt pins for a total disassembly.
The rear

the rocker

It takes a bit of everything to get the pin out of the bolster, a bit of tapping, working, twisting and working everything loose, then you have a pile of dirty parts:

I cleaned everything up a bit and prepared to put it back together:

I never much cared for the driver blade of the electric knives, so I left it out.

The spare parts

I peened the heads over on the bolsters, but didn't work them down just yet, that way if the blade loosened up, I could tighten it back up easily.
The spine was pitted quite a bit:

and the right side of the blade was pitted deeply too

Now, I don't like sticking a finished blade to a sander no more than th next guy, but it would be the quickest most efficient way.
The spine afterwards:

The blade afterwards:

I sanded the blade down by hand to remove the deep scratches and worked the pins and bolsters down smooth.

Then after a few minutes preparing a set of bocote handles, I glued them on, now it's time to let it set up, I'll resume this tommorow.

BTW, in case you were wondering, no, I couldn't get it this far without cutting myself
