1890s Vtg American Shear Co Wooden Pocket Folding Knife
Description: Vintage single blade American Shear & Knife Co. folding pocket knife from the 1890's. Sturdy dark wood handle with inset crest. The riveted handle is 3" long, the blade 2"overall 6" long when opened. Honest wear from decades of good use but clean, blade folds smoothly, some dings in wood & a short crack by one of the center rivets, some rust spots along shaft edge, blade has been sharpened quite a bit, but is free from nicks. This knife has a good feel to it.
I pick this up for $8.50. I know it's not in the greatest of shape but my knife book says they are kind of hard to find these days, so I pick it up for the collection.

I think that's a perfectly valid purchase. Especially for that price. I would have been willing to pay much more for it.
I think it's important for these older, hard to find, knives to be in the hands of caring collectors. It could be rattling around in some guys tackle box.
Good save, Draac.
