schrade 12 ot

picked up this little 12 ot. pretty full blade, long pull, a little pitted, dark patina. great little peanut with lots of use left. any idea as to years of manufacture?

Nice little knife, do you have a picture of the tang stamp, that isthe quickest way to determine a rough date. Here is mine.

Sorry I don't know the production numbers on the 12OT Pal , I've been on the look-out for one myself. Here is it's cousin the 12UH Roadie great little knives. Maybe Dale knows those numbers?

well, with that stamp that puts it at '73 at the earliest, but I'm sure the design has been around longer than that. I'm sure LT in knifelore would know.

A quick check of my catalogs seems to indicate that the 12OT was introduced in late 1990 or 1991. It does not appear in the 1990 retail price list, but does appear in the 1991 short line catalog. Usually they are noted as new when a pattern is introduced or reintroduced. But, it is not noted as new in 1991. Fell through the cracks maybe?

I also have some unsubstantiated info that says that Ulster made a 12OT that was like the Ulster 10OT (Barlow), but with a sheepsfoot main blade. The same info indicates that there was a 12OT that was a Barlow, made for export to the European market in 1964 & 1965.
