Case Tested XX

Post by remington collector »

Heres a knife I picked up yesterday. Its 3 3/4" long. Both blades have hard snap both ways with good half stops. Very nice handles with no cracks or chips. Does anyone know the pattern number and a rough guess on value?

hi remington,

thats a great looking knife. i saw your post the other day and clicked on the link and looked at some of the pics in it of items that were being auctioned and that knife caught my eye as well but from the pic it was hard to tell what kind of condition it was in but it looks great. i wasnt aware of the sale but i only live in mount airy and wouldve loved to go to that sale but with xmas coming up, its hard to get any extra money right now....lol.
anyway, it looks like a 6235 swell end jack knife with greenbone handles and jim parkers pocket knife traders price guide lists it at 350.00 in mint condition. hope this helps.

remington collector can you tell us what you did to find this knife?

You stated that you just picked her up yesterday?
From the looks of it did you buy it from a collector? 8)
Was it laying one the road or did you find it in a pawn shop?
I live in the center of the SICK state. ::td::
All we have are pawn shops here, ::td:: No swap meets and its to cold to have any grarge sales here in the SICK state. ::td::

I am starting to fell like PK now, all most snowed in.

Any way thats a real good looking knife and if Steve is right KOOL. : 8)

I got him at that indoor auction house last night. Out of several hundred knives, it was 1 of only 2 old Cases that were there. And there was only 1 vintage Remington to be found. I'll post pictures of him after I polish the bolsters. I'm not a Case man myself but I liked the looks and feel of this knife. I was thinking a 6231 but the one in the book had a long pull and this one does not. Heres a little better picture.

my books show a regular pull with no shield as well on the 3 3/4" 6231.

remington collector, your knife is WW2 military issue, reportedly made for army air corp pilots. As Johnnie said it is a 31 pattern and came in regular and long pulls.
