My Newest Camillus

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

My Newest Camillus

Post by ibele-finley »

Newly acquired. ::nod:: Main blade tang stamp is crossed swords with Sword Brand; small blade is the arched Camillus stamp. Blades snap like a gator both ways, with half stops. No wobble. Nice wood handles. Blades have been sharpened with a lil loss, but I guess ya kinda gotta expect that on a knife this old. All in all in very good condition.

That is a beauty, no doubt!
The arched tang stamp dates it to around WWI according to Tom Williams who was the Company Historian for Camillus Cutlery Co.
According to John Goins, (Goins Encyclopedia of Cutlery Markings) that could date back as far as 1902 and as late as about 1915.

A great find and in good condition as well.

That's definitely a beauty! Love those old ones with the wood handles and the half stops.

Thanks for sharing.

Nice knife. I have one almost exactly like it except that mine doesn't have the curved "Camillus" marking on the secondary. That curved marking is definitely an added plus ("added plus" is that redundant?) in my mind.

That knife has so many pluses that I think added plus makes perfect sense.

Stunning old knife - great find!
Edgewise, I am the same, but I reckon me wanting it is just an expression of how much I can appreciate it and I don't wish for me to have it instead of it's owner - I'd just love to have one just like it....
