Another Howdy from Texas

Post by wildcat »

I've been lurking for a while. I finally decided to join when someone posted a knife for trade that i liked.

I'm just north of Houston, Texas. I've been collecting knives since i was knee high to a grasshopper. My Papaw and his brothers are to blame for this addiction. When i would visit, one of them would give me one of their old wore out Old Timer's. Then i would have to do something to earn a penny to give to the one that gave me the knife. Sometimes Granny would just give me the penny. Anyway's, as i grew older, the toys got more expensive, so i started making my own knives about 6 years ago.

I only collect carbon steel bladed knives. Old Timer, Queen and Moore Maker are my favorites with Case coming in fourth. Trapper, Stockman and Sowbelly are are favorite patterns. Though Toothpicks are starting to catch my eye lately. I really like the Saddlehorn Trapper, but i can't find one with a carbon blade unless I go to a custom maker, i can't afford that. So i will wait till Case makes one in CV.

Thanks for the great site. I hope i can afford to keep up around here.
