Vietnam Tomahawks

I've been looking at a few tactical tomahawks recently. They were brought to my attention for the role they played in the Vietnam "conflict" and the theater used ones are fetching hefty prices. I have heard they were standard issue to our troops and they may still be. Any additional historical info. you can provide is appreciated!

Below are pictures of two that I have found for every day use purposes. One costs about twice as much as the other ($35 & $20), just wondering if anyone has and uses either? I really like the looks of the sharpened topside head on the larger one, plus it is 15" overall as opposed to 12 5/8" and weights 8 lbs. Not sure on the weight of the smaller one.

Also, the larger one is made of precision cast 7Cr17 stainless steel while the smaller is 440 stainless. Any metal experts out there?
