Do you think a Queen three blade Large Stockman in D2 Tool Steel, with clip, spey and sheepsfoot blades would make a good first whittler. I don't know if the handle scales would matter but they're Birdseye Maple and the knife is 4" closed.
Thanks

Dave, you might want to PM carvin don here and ask him. He is very talented and would probably answer all your questions. I would if I was starting to get into carving.

Re: First Whittler
WVDAVE, that stockman sounds just fine...4" is a good size to not fatigue yer hand....most important, keep them blades SHARP. You may decide to "modify" those blades as you sharpen to get them thinner and sharper for whittlin'....unless you have sentimental value to the knife, don't be afraid to modify it to fit yer whittlin' needs...ENJOY.
(Thanks Gino, for yer kind thoughts and words!)

Queen Cutlery Company Cattle King Stockman in Aged Honey Amber Stag Bone Pattern: #QN49ACSB on Monday. That way I'll have two to choose between.
