Fruit Knives ??????

Hey GR8 or S-k;
Are these really fruit knives or some other instrument to help satisfy the palate. See following post for two more pics.

Here they are. This is a little better look at MOP and do you think the sterling mark includes blade, it looks like one contiguous piece of metal to me. Just went and checked, the bolster is non and the blade is ferrous. So blade is probably plated. Have any idea of date of manufacture. They are approx 6" overall.

Hi Mossdancer. Very nice knife there...great pearl. The collar and the blade are separate pieces. The collar designed to protect the pearl and adds a great decorative touch. The sterling will only apply to the collar. The fish knives I posted earlier are similar in construction but both the collar and the blade are hallmarked silver. It could be a fruit knife but I'm not sure. I'll try to do some research over the weekend. Goins lists L F & C Aetna works as 1865-1950 based in new Britain Conn. Do you think the blade is stainless steel or silver plated? s-k

Hey S=K:
If Stainless its a very poor quality. It is highly ferrous. It would be my belief either SP or Crocus finish. Any idea of value ?

Hi They don't look like any fruit knives I have been able to find, but my sources are British. I found fish knives, butter knives, dinner knives etc with pearl handles but none with a blade that looks like that so far. Sorry don't know of value. I paid about $20 for the ivory and sterling fish knives. That's all I have to go on at the moment. s-k

Hello WB,

I found this LFC Fruit knife in a 1914 catalog from a wholesaler in Chicago.
Looks a lot like yours, but has the "Universal" stamp.
Says "Packed in White Lined Green Moire Boxes in one dozen pieces.
Finest Quality High Grade Pearl Handles & Quadruple Silver Plated Blades"
