Maybe a take off on a WW II Pilots Machete Blade cover

It from all appearances is an old butcher type hunting knife. The guard I suspect was added years later. What do you think, no name anywhere. The blade appears to be Hammer forged,
I may just see if Dale needs another project.

Knife looks to be well made. A sheath would have served the same purpose for protecting the blade edge, so apparently that knife hasn't been carried on the previous owner's person.

I see some real potential here..............
