Questionable schrade

Post by nmikash »

I came across this on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/Schrade-1080-T-old- ... dZViewItem
Is this a legit knife or a cobbled fake? The stamp appears to read 108OT which it clearly is not. If it has yellow handles shouldn't it have a Y in the # and it wouldn't be an OT? Maybe a rebuilt 106? Photos are not close enough to get a look at the pins. What do you think?

The seller is also trying to pass off a Victorinox as a Schrade. Makes you wonder...

JMO here.....

NOT a 108OT...

The 106OT master blade has a longer pull, haven't seen those handles and shield on a 106OT, and the scissors spring doesn't look quite right...I'd go with a cobbled knife. JMO.

To add a picture from Larry Vickery's site. And to admit that darn near anything could have been in that factory, and/or been made from the parts, when it closed. ::nod::

I'd hate to see that buyer get taken advantage of. He lives in Belgium, loves the old Schrades and I've sold him several. What is this? A factory repair using whatever blade they had that fit? Lunch box knive? Junk from the back room at the old factory?

We can get hints from looking at the seller's past items sold. As someone above mentioned. Here is one: A barlow, sure, with the handles that dont match the blade (scrimshaw). http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0018889478

And another with the wrong blade:

Bill, I'll try to get an answer from the New York guy you and I know.

This from some old new stock and is in new unused condition thats what he says. ::td:: ::td:: ::td::

What most of his junk is left over junk that some one put to gether from the old factory. After it closed. Schrade would never let this junk go of their doors.
