My 2 Eyes.
I'm quickly becoming quite the fan of Eye brand knives. I have a pretty recent whittler in rustless and just picked up an old carbon canoe at a gun show. It was a bit rusty but it cleaned up nice and I gave it a good sharpen. Gotta love those carbon blades!

I love the long pulls also.
Tell us, of the 2 you have, witch one do u like useing the most and why.

Canoes seem to ride in the pocket very well. Thin but a substantial blade is a very good combination. Those are two nice Eyes!

I like the canoe best for EDC. It rides in the pocket nice and is easy to handle. It has also been pretty cold around here lately and I can 'pinch' the canoe open while wearing gloves. Very handy! I really like the patina carbon blades get over time. I like my knives to look well used.
I do use the whittler alot to well, whittle. The whittler, my carving blocks, and books sit beside my chair for whenever I feel the urge. I would EDC the whittler more, except that using it for only one purpose keeps the blades from having to be re-sharpened so much. If I dull the canoe a little, no big deal. It will still cut most things till I get time to fix it. If I dull my whittler, I cannot (or rather shouldn't) try to whittle to much with it. I've learned my lesson about trying to whittle with dullish knives. I've slit my thumb open more than once..
...now if only there was such thing as a German Eye Canoe Whittler....I'd be in heaven.

Bulldog made a 4-Blade Canoe. Different brand, but made in the same factory. It's a little thicker than the 2-blade models, but still rides pretty well in the pocket.

Yes I see how opening a knife with gloves on can be EZer with the conoe (good point).
I have large hands with very thick nails. Many knives I have like Queens and S&Ms are hard to open.
I find that Ka Bar and Bulldogs use that nice nail nick with teeth witch helps me a lot.
The long pulls look gr8 and help.
I also have to put a conoe in the same class as sodbuster. That is as far as a small knife in my pocket that works gr8 even on a big job.
As far as sharping your whittler for carving. Have you ever used a leather wheel to bring back the super sharp cutting edge?

Thats a gorgeous stockman there. I really must get something in MoP sometime.
A leather wheel. Hmm. Sounds like a good idea. I recently got a bench grinder so I would just need the wheels for it. I have a leather strop that works nice, so it stands to reason that a leather wheel would just be really fast.
More time make the chips fly and less time sharpening is always a good thing!
