Good evening. The 55 has brass bolsters and a clip blade. THe 503 has nickel bolsters and a drop point blade. (Is that right guys?, "drop point")
I have owned a 503 and they are slim as it mentions in the advertisement, "slimline series". Both are USA made. Somebody around here has even customized a 503 and put a 55 blade in it. Pretty interesting.
Hope this helps.
Take care,
Matt

The 55 is sometimes called a half 110 with the basic fit and finish, brass. The 503 is slim and sleek, nickle silver as Matt said.

I have the slightly larger Squire model and have carried it in the past. The body of the knife is considerably slimmer allowing for much more comfortable pocket carry than the model 55 provides. JMO.

Dang, Phil. A buddy gave a 55 to me for Christmas and it's far from bulky. The first thing I noticed was how "slim" it is, the second was how dad-gummed sharp it is. I've never seen a 503 so I have no basis for comparison. I can say, the 55 is a very nice knife and carries well.philco wrote:I have the slightly larger Squire model and have carried it in the past.
