Collectors Case XX w/Kennedy half -photo-

2 weeks ago everything I knew about knives would've fit into a Nail Mark. Today I don't know much more but maybe enough to ask a question or two.

A friend of mine wants me to sell a knife that he's had for several years. It appears to be a Case Trapper with a red bone handle. It's in a black case that has W.R. CASE & SONS COLLECTORS SERIES by CASE XX on the tope of the case .

The knife has a red bone handle with a CASE oval shield on the handle. The primary blade is a California clip with 3 lines stamped into the tang "CASE XX", "Bradford PA" and " 19 USA 92". "AMERICAN Classic Coins" and some scroll work are silk screened on to the blade. The second blade is a spey with "DR6254" and "SS" stamped into the tang. "Kennedy Half" and 2 stars are silkscreened on the blade. The numbers "020" are stamped into the right bolster.

In addition to the knife the case holds a 1964 Kennedy Half Dollar. The coin is in a holder similar to ones used for mint condition coins but this coin is nowhere near mint condition my guess would be Extremely Fine to Very Fine, but I don't know much more about coins than I do about knives.

I would appreciate any comments regarding autehenticity of this knife and maybe some educated guesses about its value. I have attached a photo to give you more info.

That is a little high in my oppinion, but at least it gives you an idea of what some people are asking for them.

Bryan-
Thank you so much for your reply. After reading the info on your site and looking at the knife on the other site, I have 2 concerns.
1) The second blade is stamped DR6254 but the rear bolster has not been drilled for a lanyard as would normally be the case.
2) The silk screening on the primary blade is different on my friends knife than on the one on the other site.
Are these 2 discrepancies cause to question the authenticity of my friends knife or are these difference not unusual.

Your friend’s knife is definitely the real thing. In this particular case, the DR was added because the handles are Dark Red. This was not use very often and for a limited time. The only time that I have seen DR indicate drilled bolster is when it is at the end of the pattern number. I guess I should/will clarify this on the site.
