A GREAT Bulldog Brand Find
I had 2 Bulldog Calf Ropers that are the original prototypes for Jim Parker when he purchased the trademark rights from Charlie Dorton in 1993. Last week I found the remaining 3. All have Bulldog Brand Proto #2 written in print rather than script. The 2 I had even had the factory invoice from September 1993. These exact knives were used for a catalog also and I have that also. I realize I have been VERY lucky to obtain these and wanted to share my good fortune. The top picture is a Stag Calf Roper with it's factory invoice. The second is a picture of the proto markings on all 5 knives. The tang is actually marked Rostfrei. The last picture is the 5 knives with the catalog. Even though the colors are a bit off you can see the patterns in the Stag and celluloid are the same. These were in a shipment of knives I got today, felt like Christmas.

Great purchase...That is the first time I have ever seen print instead of script written to designate a proto...Has anyone else ever seen that on other knives???

The only other protos I've seen with print rather than script writing are on other knives I own from this 1993 original Parker order. I have about a dozen more different knives from this order. Some stockman, congress, toothpick, and a trapper to name a few. Most of those have Bulldog Brand Prototype in print. Those also have invoices signed by Achim Gronauer or a photocopy of the invoice signed by Jim Parker and a COA. So the only protos I've seen in print are from this September 1993 order.

Hi All,
I have "found" a couple more kives. The front of the first 1993 catalog has the 5 Calf Ropers on it. The back of the magazine has 5 toothpicks, which were a new addition in 1993. All of the toothpicks pictured on the back of the catalog have Bulldog Brand Prototype written in print on the back of the blade. Here are 3 such examples. Now if I can only find the other two! although the lighting is different on the catalog, the patterns in the celluloid match quite well. I hope you enjoy the pictures!
