WTB: stag handled pocketknife, stag

Post by coffeecup »

Not just any stag-handled pocketknife (Sambar stag or red stag). I'm looking for one with gnarly stag, stag that looks like popcorn, or walnuts just after you shell them, with all the bumps and points. I want a knife with stag that bites into my hand, that won't slip or twist. Prefer a trapper pattern, or a swell-end/teardrop, but I'm flexible. Don't want stainless steel.

Mostly I'm looking for a knife that still makes me smile in delight when I pull it out of my pocket in 40 years.

I'm also looking for a similar piece of stag (Sambar stag or red stag) for a handle on a fixed-blade knife. It will need to be about 3.5-4" long, and straight enough I can haft a stick-tang knife with it.

Thanks!
Quality should not be an accident. So what is the explanation for some of the knives we've seen in the past few years? (from A Knifebuyer's Manifesto)

While I don't have a knife for you, Elen hunting has some really nice stag tapers and whatnot, probably along the lines of what your looking for for rehandle. They are a bit on the pricey side, but I've ordered from them before. top notch stuff :)

Thanks Darksev! I should have thought of them, they are a go-to source for stag pistol grips.
