ID question

Post by whittlenut »

I bought an old cleaner-upper for $2 at a flea market recently. Tang says
IKCO printed inside of a diamond shape. First one I've seen. Who makes it? Somebody give me a little co. history here. (If it's not too dumb of a question) :?

Goins encyclopedia says

"IK CO inside a diamond c 1928-1930 A marking used by Imperial"

Hope this helps,

Jeff

As Jeff said, made by Imperial Knife Company in Providence RI...most likely between the end of WWI and the mid 1930's. That stamping was used on the older solid-bolster knives made by Imperial, usually with celluloid, rough black, or genuine bone handles.
