I just started collecting cases texas toothpicks. I was wondering if anyone knew of places to look for them. such as dicountinued or vintage knives

Howdy crazyfortoothpicks,

A good knifer friend of mine (azcatfish) is selling off some of the Case Classic 098 (large Toothpick) patterns in his collection that are disconuntinued!

Well, so far the internet. shepherdhillscutlery.com has a good selection. and were I live we have a camping supply store that has a decent selection, but are kinda of pricey. Do you know of any place?

Toothpicks are my favorite pattern. I have many. I find them anyplace you'd find any other knife, old or new. When, quite a few years ago I moved from inexpensive knives to pricer ones, I began selling knives to support my toothpick habit. No, I may not find a beautiful cracked ice Boker 5" toothpick at a garage sale, but time and again, I've found something just as valuable-- to someone else! Buy it, sell it at a profit, invest the money into the knife you really want. Or, simply trade it to another collector for a toothpick he happens to have that you want. Is there a knife club in your area? Join it. Meet other knife people who will keep an eye open for you. Well, the fact is, by joining this knife forum, you have in effect joined a club.

As a pattern collector, I learn much about many, many different brands. I'm not a snob, I buy them all, cheap old Kents to customs. Here is a few. Top one is a 6" closed length made by Graham Clayton of the UK. Down a bit is a white and red micarta by Frost cutlery, made in Japan. Bottom three are 'Fightn Bull', put together by Wendell Carson.

Although I collect toothpicks by all manufactures and you are only looking for Case products, I think the advice I give you above is relevent. But it won't be long until you expand to other brands, I bet.

ps... I can vouch for azcatfish. He is a fine man and I have bought from and sold to him.
