A suggestion

Post by orvet »

Hi Bryan,
I have a suggestion for what I think is an easy programming fix.

When we click on a link that a member posts in a forum, the browser takes us from AAPK to the new site.
I notice on BladeForums that when I click on a link it comes up in a new window. Is there a way that we could make that change here?

The reason is that I am often very interested in the link and want to read the new web site, but when I have lost my connection to AAPK. So I have to copy the URL for the new site, open a new browser, paste the URL in there & click on it, go back to my original browser, & page back to AAPK so I am not interrupted from the post I was reading.

Has anyone else noticed this?
Does it bother anyone else?
Is it an easy fix?

Thanks Bryan for running the best knife site on the web!

From my understanding of HTML it's just a command to open in a new window. How much work that is in php, I have no idea. I guess it would use more bandwidth. ::shrug::

Good idea - I like it. Thanks for bringing it up Dale - I agree, I'd like to see a link open in a new window also. Because it sometimes leads me to a long path elsewhere.

Usually I just right click as tmwsiy said. Or, if I am using a wheel mouse and internet explorer, click the wheel and it will open in a new tab.

Here's some simple instructions to make it happen in phpBB (the software used for this board):
