Remington 20th Ann. Poster Knife

It has no tang stamp, either the circle or the new bullet stamp, but has LTD Edition 1986 on the reverse of the clip blade and 95113 on the reverse of the spey blade.

Wondering if this is supposed to have no tang stamp at all or if they forgot to stamp it?

I've saw the 20th anniversary bullet poster knife with the circle tang stamp, as well as the word Remington inked on the tang. It does not take much to remove the ink. However, your pics indicate the knife has not been handled much if any. I assume it came from the factory as it is, with no mark on the main tang.

No, the knife is new in the box, so the ink wouldn't be gone unless someone carefully removed it intentionally before I got it.

What about the "LTD. Edition 1986" stamped on the other side of the tang on that same blade?

Would that be correct and characteristic for this knife?

I suppose this is going to end up being a question for Remington.....do you know how I might contact someone at their factory who might know?

I remember seeing Smoky Mountain advertising them in their catalog...you might have more luck with information about them from SMKW, since Remington doesn't make knives anymore. Here is a similar setup from SMKW...

I'm pretty sure your knife was made by Camillus for Remington.

(Sorry, but you have to click the "Click Here" at the bottom of the page to bring up the address).

Note the address in both instances. Camillus might give you a response if you send your pictures asking if you have a second or a factory error...or they might offer to replace it...that would be your call. I will say that Camillus is pretty tight lipped about contract work...but it might be worth a try, if all else fails. I don't think Camillus is making Remington knives any longer...as United/Arrowhead is making the better ones and the lesser ones (IMO) are being made offshore.


It's also possible the knife was made offshore like some newer ones, and had a sticker or such that was removed from the tang.

Thanks again.....I do have a question into the Remington system. We'll see how that turns out.

(Maybe they'll offer to inkstamp it for me.)

If they simply document that it was a mistake it may become more valuable than it was as a mystery.......well, maybe a dollar or so.
