Need help identifying a knife

I've had no success in trying to identify this knife. One person I asked gave me this info:

The sheath along with the Habaki style collet around the base of the blade look Japanese as they used similiar size and style knives in their air force during WW2. The decoration and handle style looks middle eastern.

Anyway....the blade is 7 3/4" long, the overall length is 10 1/4". The sheath is leather lined. The handle and sheath are likely aluminum but I cannot say for sure.
