Northfield ?????

Hey,does any one recognize this little guy. Very well made, Nickel Silver
long bolsters, Brass liner. celluloid handles I think. A swell center pen.
Stamped Northfield in an Arc with what appears as N Co. within Arc.
Any chance this is a Western Cutlery predecessor. I belive they may have been referred to as a Jenny Lind Knife. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, that is what I would call a "Jenny Lind" pattern and that is a old maker. Boss is calling for Dinner, just hold on to it for now. I am almost 99.9% they are highly collectible.

If you have Levine's Guide, look up Jenny Lind knife, as he talks about Western States and the Northfield pattern. If you have #4, it's on page 245.
I don't feel comfortable taking it straight from his book, and posting it on the forums...not sure that's on the square.

Hi Bill;
I do have lgiv. I saw that. Look on page 118 of lgiv it shows the evolution of all the Platts from Northfield where CW was super and the rest were apprentices through five companies to Western States. All this is substantiated in Blades Guide.

I have a small book printed by Western sometime in the 70's that covers their history, pictures, etc., but can not find it at this time. If I do and can add something, I will.

If you have Witcher's book on counterfeiting cutlery, there are some examples of tang stamps on page 102-03 and a tad of history.
