Rough Rider Knives

Does anyone out there collect rough rider knives? and what do you think about the quality of the knife?

OK...I'll admit to having one

. I actually quite like the wood scales on this small stockman. The snap is a little wimpy. Overall...I 've seen a lot worse.

I have used them to practice my customizing on, and sold a boat load of them. Some of them are better quality than others. I'm told that they are made in several different plants and distributed under one name. I have even had different knives shipped under the same model number. I also got a remington marked knife in a RR box. So pretty much anything goes with them.
But the trappers are 440 stainless and seem to hold a good edge.

I have a Texas Toothpick which is holding up pretty GOOD! Hey for the money you cannot beat the price of look a likes you know what I mean! 10.00 knife can go a long way that is if you use it for cutting around the house!

Rough Riders were introduced around 2002 or 2003 as I recall, not that my memory is that great. I got a few when they first came out, kinda checked them out, some were OK, others were lousy. Since that time the quality has improved a lot. I've seen some that are dead ringers for Case knives, Bulldog Knives and even one that looked exactly like a Parker Armadillo. Hard to miss on that last one since the look is unique.
The Chinese have improved them a lot and they even have a collector series. The Chinese can spit out a lot of these real cheaply due to low labor costs. Today you can find these in almost any handle material, some quality, some junk. If they improve at their current rate, other knife companies should wake up and take notice. I don't like them myself but in the future, they could be a force to be reckoned with due to low cost and improving quality.
