Yep, just a rat snake. We have a lot around here in Parker Co. Below are some pics I have taken of them on my place. I let them go on about their business (unlike the copperheads and rattlesnakes.) We have a 4 or 5 footer living under the slab of our patio. We call him "Ratatouille" We watch them crawl around when we see them and they don't seem to be perturbed in the least. Although, Ratatouille was on the patio under the grill one night last year, and I moved the grill to get a picture of him. It made a loud noise, and he didn't like that one bit - he let out his "skunk" smell and ran over and hid behind the lime tree pot. Pretty stinky.

They are lighter gray when they are juveniles, then get darker as they age.

We have lived here two years, and I haven't seen a mouse or a rat...not even a turd.

Been a few super windy days lately, so what does my dumb-a$$ neighbor decide to do? Why, burn some leaves and set the woods on fire, of course! There was a red flag no-burn order in effect in town, but not for him, apparently.

I was working on my porch, and didn't even notice it until my wife, who was leaving down the driveway, stopped the car and asked if I see that. See what, I said, and then looked up and saw all the smoke. It looked like more than just a bonfire, so I went next door and banged on the door. Finally the guy came out and I said...um, you have a problem. I then showed him on the side of his house where everything was on fire. He called the fire dept, as it was clear this was more than a garden hose could take care of. At first, the fire was on his side of the stone wall, but the wind carried it onto my property, and also on to the neighbor's up on the hill.

The FD showed up and worked quite a while to knock it down. A police officer was on scene also, and came over to ask me a few questions. She said if we hadn't seen it and said something, the neighbor's house on the hill would've gone up. The report I read on facebook said that 2 motorized vehicles were also in the fire, so maybe 4-wheelers? Anyways, we got lucky with the wind direction....

Incredible your neighbor would do a burn in dry and windy conditions. More incredible that he would leave it unattended. ::uc::

Found this photo in an online magazine that i read online. It is at least a Century old wool press for pressing wool bales. I am not the one in the photo, but thought some of the old tool buffs here might find it interesting. And i was not made in Asia.   ::tu::

Good stuff mate! I got a bunch of old tools hanging round here, waiting to get restored. Probably start working on them, after we get the crop in here.

I'm still making slow progress on the trailer restoration. I finally got it painted, as well as two coats of water sealant on the treated wood. I replaced a couple of running lights and got the wiring system in good shape. I'm installing the wood, but am going to need some help to rip and install the last three pieces. Will hopefully get that done this weekend. This is a lot more work than I thought it would be! Or maybe I am just getting older and slower.

Well, the trailer is all finished. I got the last few boards screwed down this morning, the bearings greased, and the wheels put back on. Glad to be done with this thing. I parked it under the RV cover (since I don't have an RV), so hopefully this thing will stay in decent shape over the years.

Ok, I'll quit boring you guys with pictures of my trailer now.
