Vintage CASE Folding Knives

Glad you got those handles off O.W! I saw a knife where they had eaten most of the way through the brass liners!!!

Here's a Case Tested trio that I am quite proud of. Most cattle knives have a spear master blade, but a few have clips like the middle one.
These knives all have cut down center liners that are "milled" or "coined", giving them a classy look.

I don't know for sure, Aimus, but I think so. I don't own enough of them to be absolutely certain. Can anyone tell us?

Yes that is the "A" blade. To see the difference, look at any 99-1/2 pattern from the USA era or 1970's and you will see the narrower master blade. The "A" blade was used in the Tested and early XX eras.

I went to see my old friend Saturday. We dug around through about 50 lbs of stag until I found an OLD piece that I thought will fit the bill. Can't wait to see what magic he works on it, I'll be sure and post pics with its' new shoes on.

While I was there, I got see something I'd never seen in my life much less held in my hand. He has a Case Tested switchblade that belongs to a customer and is in need of a new spring and some TLC. He's gonna fix it up. That thing is a BEAST! ( and a damn cool lookin old knife )

That old knife is the centerpiece of my stuff. Not only is it a neat old knife, my great grandfather carried it all over S America between 1905-1910, whilst surveying and exploring for oil for the Standard Oil Company.

As for the backdrop? I found that rock in the creek on a snad bar right near where I found the fossilized bones of some BIG critter, maybe it was a sand bar stag. I thought it looked neat and it works great for holding knives for pictures.

Here is a nice brace of Case Testeds!
The pattern number is 06230 1/2, and they are 3 1/4" long. Tony Foster told me on the phone today that the pattern ended in the Tested period, so likely no XXs exist (but stranger things have happened!).
They are broad like a 45 pattern, but shorter, with single backsprings. They make a great little watch pocket knife, like a muscle-bound pen knife!

I could be mistaken but I thought it was you who said it was sacrilidge to to alter the physical appearance of a vintage knife. And here you're totin' a rehandled one. Imagine that
