Nice cast of words, Joe. Each stanza had me visualizing what it was you were describing. Nice portrayal of younger days gone by. ::tu::

Very nice Joe! Reminds me of my youth when we spent whole days playing in the woods. Or along side steams, springs or ponds, catching frogs, crayfish or tadpoles. When being outside was in & being inside was out. ::tu::

In FL we would catch bait fish with a cast net. Then take them to a near by fishing peir and sell them to people who were fishing there for 2 or 3 dollars. Then we'd go to the gas station & buy Reeses cups & chocolate milk. ::tu::

LOVE GOES

Where love goes in the night;
Where love goes in the night must be the sweetest presence.
But come the dawn a strange mix of vaudeville and Vivaldi;
A step here, a twirl.
Keeping up with what's expected.

Here is something I wrote in a book I'm working on, "RANDOM THOUGHTS OF AN OLD MAN.....I'M RIGHT AGAIN"

"On the following pages is what I call an “Imagery Poem” and mainly reflects on my time in the Navy."

In my lifetime, I’ve stood silently in the shadows of great mountain
ranges and gazed upwards at their majestic beauty and grandeur.
1.png
.
I’ve flown five miles high and as I looked back down at the splendid
beauty of GOD’s creation, I recalled Genesis 1:31 “And GOD saw
everything that He had made, and behold, it was very good.”
2.png
.
I’ve sailed across the vast oceans of the world and gazed upon sparkling
waters as the last fleeting rays of sunlight, faded below a distant horizon,
and there were no words to describe what my eyes were privileged to see.
3.png
.
I’ve witnessed the rich colors of a new rainbow after a raging storm
on the Mediterranean Sea. As it stretched across a clearing sky to a
distant point I wondered .... how?
4.png
.
Having seen all these beautiful creations of GOD’s own hand,
dare I now imagine how glorious Heaven will be?

That was beautiful, David. Those of us who served in the Navy are privileged to have the awesome memories of the different lands, skies, waters and countries we have experienced. Thank you, from one sailor to another, for sharing your memories, thoughts and words.

Thank you Sir, and those sunsets and sunrises can be quite a wonderful moment in time. Thank you for serving, I spent some time in your area at Little Creek.

Oh Holy Night

Oh Holy Night, it is the night of our Dear Saviors birth.
Imagine the night. Think of what it was like for those who knew.
What was it to know that that Great Star held a promise of a
Sanctuary of Truth, Life and Forgiveness, promised so long ago.
Imagine being one of the chosen few to be present at the time the very Christ comes to the world, in a stable,
with beautiful Mary and the love of the Holy Spirit abounding. Oh Holy Night! God Bless us all.

Well said, Joe...

May the spirit of the season be reflected outward toward all those we come in contact with, whether through word, deed or presence. Let His light so shine through us, into the depth of any darkness, as we walk our daily paths. Not only at this time of year, but each and every day of each year we are given.

Ok fellas, I’ll give you a song lyric that I think you’ll like. It’s from several years ago. The tune is basic Celtic/East Coast.

A fancy guy in a suit and tie
Doesn’t do a thing for me
Polo cologne, million dollar home
That’s not what I need

Oh I’d rather be with a workin’ man
Who comes home tired
With dirty hands
A rusty old car and an honest heart
That’s the man for me
That’s the man for me

There’s no pride in a rich man’s bride
Given all she sees
She’ll never learn what it is to earn
Love comes best for free

So I’d rather be with a workin’ man
Who comes home tired
With dirty hands
A rusty old car and an honest heart
That’s the man for me
That’s the man for me

This world is rough and you must be tough
At least that’s what I’ve found
But if you’re strong when it all goes wrong
You can stand your ground

And I’d rather be with a workin’ man
Who comes home tired
With dirty hands
A rusty old car and an honest heart
That’s the man for me
That’s the man for me

There, I think that one is kinda in everyone’s ballpark. It usually goes over fairly well.
I’m too young to be this old!

Mike's Knife Pick Tip viewtopic.php?f=21&t=65676 reminded me of a poem I wrote many years ago.
Hope I can call you all my "Friends". Enjoy friends. ::tu:: :D

"If I could call you Friend"

I'd give a penny for your thoughts,
A nickle for your smile,
A quarter just to sit & talk,
And laugh with you a while.

A dollar wouldn't be too much,
If I could call you "Friend",
Cause I know you'd be worth it all,
Every dime I spend!
