If you can think of something to talk about that is not related to knives, discuss it here.

QS, whatever that yellow blooming stuff is, you’ve got a good crop of it. Looks like wild mustard but it’s a little early for it.

Ken, My wild mustard started blooming back in February already. I've been pulling, chopping and spraying it ever since. It is really a late winter nuisance weed rather than a spring weed. Kentucky could easily have that junk popping out. But that stuff doesn't look like it is stalky enough nor are the leaves large enough to be wild mustard. Well, at least not the stuff I have to fight down here in central Texas.

Well maybe that's why they don't chew on that old Sears garden tractor of mine..my son had chippers invade his place down state last season he's been there 5+ years now and just getting them I told him he's been taking them south with him when he comes up I've seen them run out of my truck before when I go to the local party store...I keep moth balls in the crawl space well pit and under my deck...garbage can lid got chewed all up and it hadn't had garbage in it for over 4 months..I set traps the same way if you don't tie bait to the trigger you never get one. my neighbor across the lake has them way worse than me but Marv likes collecting things so they got lots of hiding places....

Just for my own edification, what's a "chipper"?

Same thing happened to me a few years ago. :x Had to buy a new "computer" for the truck. ::td:: Cost me a $1,000+ and a lot of inconvenience. ::td:: ::td:: My local Farmer's Union store guy recommended I use cotton soaked pure "Peppermint Oil" and leave it under the hood, corner of the bed, etc. Sounded crazy enough that it might work so I tried it. All I can say is I haven't had any more problems with Chippies or Field mice. My Honey sewed up small 2" square bags to stuff the cotton balls in and I refresh them about every month or so. ::tu:: By the way, the pictures of Texas in bloom are beautiful. It snowed here yesterday, only an inch or so, but it snowed on 5/9/2020 which is late even for us! Rich

That’s buttercup. And it’s horrible here in Kentucky. Pretty for sure, but nothing eats it and it’ll take over a pasture.

Ken, its toxic to animals. It will take over a field in no time. Rather pretty to look at but very invasive.

I guess like any other weed, you got to hit it before it seeds out... That way you'll help to keep it under control, either mower, weed wacker, or chemical that's same on grass. It's kinda like dandielions up here, but at least cattle like to eat em'. ::shrug:: .
What can you do, you gotta do, what you gotta do, and that's all you can do...

When Sarah was young, she was given this antique Napoleon Bon Bon candy jar, so she had it when we married in 1969.

Over the past fifty years, we have filled it with quarters a few times and cashed in when needed. Not the most efficient savings method, I know, but we like seeing it fill up.

These days, with debit cards, etc, We don’t bring home much pocket change, so it’s a slow go.

If the COVID-19 economy doesn’t pick up soon, we may have to roll them and cash out again. If we do, I doubt the jar will ever look like this again.

It weighs 22.5 lbs. The jar is 12” tall.

Life in the bed of a UTV. These tools are pretty much what I keep in mine, with smaller tools like fencing pliers, hammer, hatchet, etc. and supplies under the seats. There’s an overhead gun rack in the cab.

I don’t have a utv, but I have a two wheeled trailer that I pull behind my little tractor that’s loaded with much the same set of tools!

Charlie your post made me think about my own coin collection jar. I'm too poor to save quarters so I hoard pennies. Vicki and I married in June of 1981. The day before the wedding I went to the bank and cashed in $97 worth of pennies I'd saved so I'd have gas money for the honeymoon (such as it was). After that I started saving my pennies from my pocket change once again. I've managed to fill this jug and have another one that's about two thirds full. I joke that I haven't spent a penny since I got married. ::super_happy::
