First Cup Diner!

If you can think of something to talk about that is not related to knives, discuss it here.

Good morning. 60 degrees to start the day but it's still hazy from Canada. Yesterday after church our kids decided to head south about 140 miles to some antique shops and invited us to go with. In one town where used to be a ton of shops, only three are left and they are scarce picking for knives. In the last one, I was ready to give up when I found three knives in a case with an old knife guy sitting helping customers and one of the ones he had was a nice Russell Navy Knife. A little visiting and minor haggling and it went home with me. I'm hoping the mail box today willy yield a knife from Scott. I'm off to paint some windows. Have a god week.____Dave

Mornin' Y'all

Nothin' new or startling, just a dry, mildly warm day ahead here in Dixie. I could cut the grass,
but I'll probably let it ride a few more days. The ground is still pretty damp.

Yawl be safe !
Chris
i woke last night to the sound of thunder
how far off i sat and wondered
started humming a song from nineteen sixty two
aint it funny how the night moves

Good Mornin', Chris and others that will stop by the diner today. ::handshake::
64°, just barely light enough to see this morning, haven't spotted Bambi and company in the yard or garden yet. Yesterday they started eating our straight necked squash plants and cucumber plants.

I love them but wish they would stay in the woods. A bit discouraging when trying to raise a small garden. Last week they ate our Bell pepper plants. Oh well, maybe we'll trade out with them next hunting season.
Men's prayer meeting this morning and then a trip to the grocery store with Miss Joy after breakfast is on today's agenda. Got all the mowing done yesterday except around the two fish ponds closest to the house.
Gotta run, y'all have a great Tuesday!

Good morning. It's a cool drizzly morning here. We are making a material run this morning and putting up a kitchen ceiling in the cabin we've been working on. It's a stone cabin that's up for sale and is a landmark building around here' There is a lot of interest in it and some people, not from around here, want to buy it to tear down and use the property to build a year round house and the neighbors at the lake, all related to the man who did the stone work and died about 50 or 60 years ago and was grandpa or uncle to the ones in the cabins around it are really nervous about who gets it. It comes with a two story stuga that Jason and I finished a few years ago in V groove paneling and is a beautiful building. The neighbors would love to pool their money and purchase the two buildings but the $250,000 price tag is out of reach. The Stuga has a small attached garage with a small Cris-Craft runabout boat in it that the current owner, a widow of the one of the grandsons of the guy who did the stone work almost 100 years ago gave away apparently not knowing it's value. The grandpa was a well known minister who's kids and grandkids became ministers with few exceptions. Lots of local history is involved in this small community where almost everyone is related. Have a great Tuesday.____Dave

Tooth extraction went well but the oozing of blood took awhile to get stopped.
I'll be taking it easy today trying to keep bleeding from starting up again.

Farmers iff'n you want them big fat greasy bucks this fall you gonna have to feed'um. ::woot::
In 2004 when I retired I bought a little Ford 3000 tractor and a brand new garden tiller, I was planning on getting back in the garden business. For several years the boss and I both working and first taking of her dad and brother and then my mom and dad, we'd quit trying to raise any garden to speak of. It went pretty well for a couple of years, then it happened I put out four rows sweet corn, couple of rows of Crowder peas, some Kentucky wonder pole beans, maters, squash, peppers and such and everything got up about couple or three inches high and the fool deer nipped everything off even with the ground. I replanted, someone told me to hang pie pans, cans of rocks and put something they didn't like the smell of around my plot, didn't work and I got tired of it. Got me some big pots for my mater and peppers and we had a old double sink that came out of a dairy barn and we started our "raised pot " gardening. We buy alot of corn, beans, peas, squash and such, but the boss just has to get a little dirt under her fingernails, I'm gonna shell down the corn iff'n it was left up to me I'd buy all that we use at the many farmer markets and stands around here, but the boss is the boss. ::woot:: ::super_happy:: ::handshake::

Morning, folks.
Wet and sticky here in the Missouri Ozarks. Bad time yesterday. Took our cat, Banjo to the vet for a "last" evaluation. They recommended hospitalization by a specialist in which we then went from Springfield, MO all the way to Kansas City. We didn't get back until 2:30 am and brought him back with us as the total hospitalization for one night would've been $2,400. So we have him here kind of in a hospice way. He's still got some spunk and fight, but he's fading and we can see it.
In addition...our truck just gave out. We think it's the alternator or starter. Great timing, huh?! ::facepalm:: :x So hopefully, Banjo will not pass or come to need to be put down while our truck is away at the garage for repair. ::shrug:: I swear...when it rain, it doesn't pour...it floods.
Enough of my troubles and hope I didnt bring the diner down too much.
Y'all have a great Tuesday. Remember...be safe, be careful and be alert.

Sorry to hear of your troubles with Banjo, MG. Your long drive demonstrates the exceptional care you are providing to your great feline friend.

Much appreciated, Quick. He's resting comfortably today and happy to be home and not being poked and prodded.
