Men's prayer meeting at 6. A nephew and his family will be visiting sometime today and spending the night, then heading back to the rat race sometime tomorrow. Probably another run to the grocery store for a few things before they arrive. They love fried venison.

Good morning. Yesterday our dog, Gypsy, came down with something and I suspect it's a tic born disease. She can't put weight on one front leg and one back leg. She is too heavy for me to lift to help her so she hasn't gone out to do her business so I'll wait for Jason to get up and help me get her up and out and hopefully we can get her to the vet. I'm starting to wonder if the problems I've been having with my legs isn't the same thing. We have a lot of several kinds of tics in this area and several people from the area have had issues, and it seems to affect muscles all over their body and is usually treatable with medicine. The main reason I have chickens is for tic control and they do a great job at ridding our lawn and surrounding woods, but a fox has temporarily got them on lock down until I can deal with him. I've lost three of my best hens in the past week or two. I have work jobs kind of piling up and really don't need these problems. I have a chiropractor appt today too so I don't know how much actual work will gt done today. I guess that's what tomorrow is for. Have a good week.____Dave

Morning folks, 62 was the low heading to the mid 70's, had about 7 tenths of rain overnight with what we had Sunday I've got just a little over a inch in the gage.
Wampus returned yestiddy afternoon, looking no worse for wear, ate a good supper and was ready for breakfast this morning.
Good buddy of mine got a tick bite a couple of years ago and man it put him down, he told me he got down in the floor and could not get up had to call 911, he is back helping in the meat processing and raising a big garden and taking care of a few acres of yard but he says he's still not right, of course some of that may be age related as he just turned 79.
I had something happen to me few years ago I got a high fever the boss carried me to my doctor who was in Germany, so I saw he's partner, she sent me to the ER and they ran all kinds of test, the ER Doc said he didn't know what it was but was going to give me a cocktail, he gave me a shot in the hip, and I was feeling better before we got home. I laid down and soaked the the bed the boss had to change it and I soaked it again. I've always thought it was insect related the way it came on.
It took me quite some time to recover completely.
Dave hope you and Gypsy get to feeling better.

First cup has been drained and after another. Looks like we got rain on the horizon.
Let’s kick those camels in gear and get hump day moving along .
Tick and mosquito season are here for sure . Father in law had lymes from a tick few years ago . It put him down for a few weeks and needed the right meds to recover. Bees are another one . Niece got stung last year and used her E pen ,but not much help it seemed so we hi tailed it to Hayward ER and they stabilized her. Good thing she had her E pen or she might not have made it the Doc stated.
Time to get after it .

JP, when I was a young feller, I worked for a party chief on a surveying crew that was very allergic to wasp and bee bites. He carried some sort of device to counteract the venom until he could get to an ER. Remember driving him to the nearest hospital from way out in the woods. He said, "Drive and drive fast!" when we started out. I reckon your niece better not stop by to visit with us, the bee man set up 72 hives at our place last Saturday. Lots more bees in the yard now.
Woke up to find we just caught the very northern end of a rain that extends south out into the Gulf. 0.1" in the gauge, we'll take any we can get.
We're entertaining a nephew, his wife and their 2 sons. The oldest son just graduated from high school. Good boys, they like pocketknives!
1st cup has just been poured. Y'all have a great Wednesday.

Good morning. I'm sipping my first and probably only morning cup from my Thorvold"s Cream of Lutefisk cup. It's supposed to be funny and looks like a Cambells soup can and so far my kids have made sure I had two. It's a nice mug so I use it. Gypsy is walking enough to go out and pee but isn't eating her dog food yet and I'm giving her milk and other people food I know she will eat and lots of water. She doesn't want to put any weight on one front leg and one back leg but is showing a little improvement. If it isn't better later today I think we will take her in. There isn't a good vet around here and darn few good doctors. Our really good dentist just retired. We haven't had a decent weather forecaster in 30 years. I'm starting to see a pattern here, and I think it's me. Speaking of me, a realtor told me yesterday that when I retire there will be a serious shortage of good carpenters too. Jason is good, but he loves the mechanical parts (plumbing, electrical, garage doors, etc) better than the woodworking parts. He likes assembling stuff more than creating them out of raw materials, and that's what I do best. I like making a book case out of lumber rather than from a box of stuff from Sweden. Yesterday we got our the deck finish put on the deck refinishing job and most of the ceiling put back together in the garage where the plumbing burst last winter. We checked out another cabin that's going up for sale and the owner wants us to fix a bunch of stuff, and found out the owner just gave away an old Chris-craft boat and trailer. We were about an hour short of getting it ourselves. It needs a ton of refinishing but would be worth a few thousand fixed up, not that I needed another work project, but it sure would have been a fun one. I'm off to work. Wampus was on the back porch this morning a fairly rare place for him, we see him coming from under the porch quite often. I think he sleeps under there some.
He ate a good breakfast and then slipped of to the neighbors yard.
Got to go get the tags renewed for my truck this morning and then try to get the grass cut if it don't rain me out.

Good morning all
At work already everything pretty normal. I keep hearing about the ticks, no mosquitoes yet here in the great state of Illinois. But the ticks are in high gear and I did see a bee already don’t think it was a honey bee. Went fishing at lunch yesterday for a bit. Maybe under a tree or two mostly mowed grass. Driving back to work and I feel the scurry across my arm and already have my first tick of the season. It didn’t survive crawling on me. My younger brother says I’m a tick magnet instead of a chick magnet. My bride laughs.

It's evening, not morning, but the topic of stings prompts me to relate a sad story. In addition to his regular job, my stepmother's first husband, Jesse, had a part-time grave monument business in Harpers Ferry with his brother. In August 1973 Jesse and another man were placing a stone at a rural cemetery in nearby Loudoun County, VA. There was some type of hydraulic/mechanical lift in the tail end of the truck for raising and lowering stones to the ground. Unknown to them, yellow jackets or wasps (I can't remember which) had built a nest somewhere adjacent to the lift. When it began lowering that day they swarmed. They stung Jesse multiple times around his head and neck. Unfortunately, his elderly coworker didn't drive, so he set off on foot to get medical help, leaving Jesse alive curled up in the truck cab. When the man returned with help, they found Jesse had died. Very sad. Jesse and my stepmother had 3 children, the oldest was 14 at the time.

IIRC, they had loaded the stone on the truck a week or so earlier with no problem from yellow jackets. At that time, there apparently had been no yellow jacket nest on the truck. Then Jesse took his family to the beach on vacation. He then went to deliver the stone after he returned from vacation. Apparently, the yellow jackets had built the nest in the intervening week or so.

Good Mornin', Folks.
Up early to get our nephew and his family on their way. We canceled workday and that is a good thing as we are about to get a humdinger of a storm. I can hear the thunder and the TV Folks in Panama City are saying it's raining cats and dogs down there. We understand terms like that.
After a 1st cup and they head out, I'm liable to kick back in the recliner and set the parking brake and enjoy the rain.
Great family time yesterday rambling around the place. Our niece even discovered a water leak in our other well house. I just mow around it and never look in it but she heard a trickle of water. So after the rain I'll need to put on my plumber's hat.

Good morning. Gypsy is on the mend, and yes it is a tic born disease she was knocked down with so I'm really glad we took her in. It did come with nearly a $1000 bill to find out. They did x-rays to check on her hips and she does have some problems there too. It sure is nice to see her walking. Jane and our grand-daughter took her down to the vets and had to carry her in and out of the vets, and when they got back home and opened the door to the back of the Toyota expecting to carry her to the house, she jumped down (it's a high vehicle) and walked down to the house on her own. We finished up two small jobs yesterday and are planning on doing some railings on the deck we refinished earlier. The weather people are warning us to not be outside much because of smoke from the Canadian wild fires. The Minnesota wild fires are pretty well contained. Now if Canada gets there act together life in the Northwoods will be pretty good. Except for the smoke problem, our weather is pretty near perfect. Have a good Thursday.____Dave

Wampus was awaiting on the steps, seem to be in fine shape, ate his grub and last I saw he's was checking the perimeter marking as he went.
Prep.day for colonoscopy early tomorrow morning, prep is the worst part of the whole dang thing, my stomach already thinks my throat's been cut.
I got the grass cut yestiddy and the weedeating done.
Good to hear that Gpysy in on the mend, couple of fine looking pups Dave. Pet ownership has gotten to be a expensive proposition. Old wampus can't be caught so he doesn't get to go to the vet, we do put some worm meds on his food occasionally, the cat food has got to be crazy expensive in my opinion.

A skunk has been around the house the past two days.

For the first time, I am beginning to think of selling my most valuable knife; it was my grail knife. I don't need the cash but I am realizing I don't have a relative that has more than a superficial interest in knives. There are many who would take care of it, but I prefer someone who has an understanding and appreciation of it.

After more rain yesterday, I had to get out in the wet and do rear brakes on the wife's Charger.
Dadgum car is heavy, and it almost fell when the jack sunk up. I should have anticipated that ...

Anywho ... another weekend in the hole awaits me. This new guy really gets on my nerves, and I continue
to work on my patience, or lack there of.
It's good to see everyone and the pups doing fairly well or improving.
