Good morning knifers .
Beautiful day brewing here . Have a bunch of chores and grass to mow and get some maintenance done. Will pick away at it some today .
Philip, hear you about enjoying what one does even if not cost effective. We used to catch fish as kids with cane poles and sticks for bobbers . Now everyone has high dollar boats and trucks and have to pay resort or boat launch fees . And if you have to pay for lodging there’s another expense. It’s cheaper to go buy a Walleye dinner than to go catch them. But the enjoyment of being out there with your buddies is priceless at times .
You all have a great weekend.
Enjoy what you can out there.

Good morning. Phil, our gardening has been reduced over the years to two apple trees and rhubarb plants. I can't even get the grass to grow in my yard. Maybe when I retire. I have an annual Dr. appt this morning to stay on prostrate meds and then it's to the chiropractor. The past day or two have been the best my legs and back have felt is some time so I'm hoping that's what is doing it and not just weather systems that agree better with my bones. The weather has turned cooler and the rain is helping those fighting the wildfires. All the tornado warnings and sightings went around us yesterday with only one getting close, and that one never did touch down. Our trees leafed out almost over night and my lawn is finally green. It's supposed to be cool and wet today so my chickens won't be running free and I won't be worried about predators snatching them while nobody is home. Nothing fun is happening this weekend other than a knife coming in the mail. Rummage sales are starting up all over so I might hit a few of them. Have a good Friday and weekend.____Dave

Morning folks, 72 may make it to the lower 80's, scattered strong thunder bumpers predicted with large hail, sure hope that peters out before it gets here.
Wampus was on the steps awaiting his breakfast. Boss said he cut a trail soon as he got through eating.
Buddies day at Hooters and need to return the light bulbs I bought that didn't suit us. I've got the grass in good order and most of our garden stuff planted, now if the deers and hail storms don't ruin it we are set.
Hope yawl have a good'un and be careful out there. ::handshake::

Good Morning Everyone!
That's a great picture Tom ::tu::
I haven't been getting very many hours of sleep so last night I took a sleeping pill,
which I hate to use, and went to bed at 9:30 PM. I just got up at 10:00 AM this morning
and I still feel kind of foggy, like I'm not fully awake yet. My daughter and her kids are
still here with us and I love it when they are. My grandson that's here is always asking
about knives and has a few that I've given him, I think he will become a collector.
My daughter is always asking about my Woodburning Art and I've done some special pieces
for her to take on a mission trip to the Philippines in July. Also I did one for a special needs
lady at their church that loves pictures and figurines of Hippo's. This is the most I've said in
a while, maybe before I get in trouble I better say have a blessed day and be safe..... :D

Good morning. This is day three of rain or drizzle with peaks of the sun mixed in just to keep our spirits up. My Dr. appt yesterday went better than I expected. My numbers have been so consistent for so long that the doctor said, unless I notice anything different, I can stay on my current meds without the yearly testing and that my primary doctor can renew them. The chiropractor appt after that appointment went well and my legs and back feel pretty good. At my age, I'll take pretty good. The knife I've been waiting for didn't show yesterday so I'm hoping it will be today. Also today, I noticed in the paper that there is a small gun show only a dozen miles away. The chances of them having a decent knife at a decent price aren't the best, but lately these small shows have been very good to me so who knows what may show up. Just going into these shows gets my old adrenaline kick started and that feels good. Have a good weekend.____Dave

Good Mornin'!
Dave, glad your doctor appointments went well. ::tu::
Tom, the picture you posted yesterday is an eye catcher! Check a bit closer, she is a he. :)
David, your wood burning art is amazing.
73⁰ as the sun is in the tops of the trees west of the house.
Yesterday we finished mowing the south yard by noon.
Spent most of the afternoon cleaning out my clothes closet. Took a big load of shirts, jeans and slacks to Goodwill. Amazing how much stuff we accumulate, there were 30 shirts on hangers that I hadn't worn in years. ::shrug:: The jeans and slacks were all to big. ::tu:: We've dropped quite a few pounds since retirement.
Need to continue watering the new hedge plants and Centipede plugs plus a few vegetables in the raised beds. The things planted in the ground seem to be doing okay. Kinda disappointed in the sweet corn, didn't get a good stand. It is what it is. ::shrug:: Appears we have still have enough Zipper Cream pea plants to make enough for a mess or two. Will probably will continue keeping Bambi at bay with the Milorganite.
The coffee has been served. ::tu::
Y'all have a wonderful day!

Mornin' guys and gal. It is a fine day already. I get to fondle some knives, share in the lives of friends by reading their posts here on AAPK and I have some fine old country music playing on the desk top. Life is good. It is already 79º here in my back yard so I guess we are in for a hot afternoon. I think I'll see if I can stir up a little breakfast and feed the birds.
Hope you all have a fine day today.

Morning folks, 60 for the low should get to the mid 80's by afternoon. We had some wind, lightning and rain last evening about bedtime, looks to be about a inch of water in the rain gage. I got a big limb that broke off the old box elder to take care of, some smaller ones to pick up. According to the news we were very fortunate.
Trash day iff'n I get around to it. The boss wants some help planting some flowers.
Wampus was awol again.

Good morning. Every day seems to start the same lately around here, damp and cloudy, but at least it's turned my world into looking like summer where you can't see beyond 50 feet before trees and under brush hide the rest of the world. I do love this time of the year with the promise of the entire summer laid out ahead. The gun show yesterday was as expected, all over priced guns and zero old knives that I might be interested in. It was still a fun relaxing day. My latest purchase didn't show yet but it's too early to worry. It should be here Monday. Church is in a few hours and I've got nothing else planned for the day.____Dave

Wampus was here laying on the steps, had his hongery on, old boy looked all tuckered out, chasing the ladies will do that or so I've been told.
The boss and I put in another day of playing in the dirt.
We lost a few limbs to the wind storm, one is gonna take a little chainsaw work to get it cleaned up.

Good Mornin', Fellers!
Been sitting here drinking our 1st cup and watching a deer in the yard. Miss Joy said, "You act like you've never seen a deer before!" I just enjoy watching them, year round. ::tu::
Y'all hear the term "muggy meter" from the TV weather folks? It was 73 inside and 73 outside but outside the humidity was 93% and interior reading is 51%. I don't pay much attention to it when I'm outside working but this morning it was very obvious for some reason. ::shrug::
Church in a few hours, nothing planned for the afternoon except that wonderful Sunday afternoon nap!
Yesterday was a continuation of Friday except no mowing. More clothes bagged up to go to Goodwill. Watered some of the raised beds yesterday and made another lap around the garden with the Milorganite. Seemed to work this morning, the deer didn't go near the garden. Rode around on the cart and dosed the Fireant nests that showed activity where I had mowed on Friday. A never ending battle!
Found an old military rifle in the back of my closet that I had forgotten about. I remember getting it some years ago along with some other guns in a trade. At the time I recalled seeing a cartouche (?) on the stock that indicated it had some Oriental connection. Just a junker in the the pile. Looking closer yesterday, I noticed K98 on the left side of the receiver. ::hmm:: Some sort of Mauser, I guess. A quick internet stroll gave several possibilities explaining the Oriental stamp. We'll post some pictures and maybe some on can tell me what I traded for many years ago. I do know the guy that traded it to me has passed away several years ago, no help there.
Y'all have a great Sunday, remember there's always room for one more at any of our neighborhood churches. ::nod::

Good morning. It's been staying about 40 degrees at night and supposed to be in the low 60's for highs much of the week. I think the rain is done for a while. The wildfires are somewhat under control but the firefighters are still working to knock them down completely and everything is much greener than when they started so hopefully much of the danger is gone. Back in the early 1900's when logging was in full swing and zero thought was given to the huge brush piles the loggers were leaving behind, our area was devastated with several huge fires that killed hundreds of people and wiped out entire towns. This area used to be covered my a canopy of huge white pines that are nearly all gone. There are a few huge burned out stumps that are 6 to 8 feet across. I'd have loved to see what it looked like that around here before it was all gone. I'm off to finish up our last job and start another one. Work keeps coming in and we are already getting behind. I can't work like I did when I was 75, so it's a little more intimidating to get behind now, but I still love what I do. Have a good week.____Dave

Morning folks, looks like the low was 63 could make it up to near 80 sez Nikki Dee. Stray shower possible. The radar showed a build up of storms yestiddy and then they just petered out.
Wampus was late to chow but finally showed up sez the boss.
Son showed up yestiddy morning to help me get the limb out of the tree, had to hook the the little Ford 3000 to it and pull it the rest of the way down and cut it up. Still got some limbs to load up and move to the burn pile.

Good Mornin', Folks.
67⁰ and foggy here in Lower Alabama aka the Florida Panhandle.
Had a good Sunday.
We'll probably be puttering around in the yard and garden this morning. No plans, no decisions prior to 1st cup! We're never caught up around here, it feels like we have nothing urgent pressing us for a change. ::paranoid::
May have a nephew and his family vist late in the week. Their oldest son just graduated high-school and they are celebrating by traveling for a couple of weeks.
Our hummingbird traffic has almost dried up. Out behind the old barn and cowpens there is a huge Mimosa tree in full bloom, the hummers will be back when that bloom dries up.
Coffee's about to be served. Y'all have a blessed Monday!

Mornin' Y'all

Up too early after a sorta restless night. Nothin' new ....
Upper 80's expected today, and more storms late tonight. Nothing pressing to do but laundry.

Been out of sorts the last week or two. We had 2 guys on the other night shift quit recently,
which left our group in a bind. Hired 2 new people, then decided to move me to the other shift to train one.
Same hours and such, just messes with my calendar. I'm not a good person to train someone because I have little patience. I am so used to working pretty much alone ... I rarely ask for help, no matter how much crap hits the fan. Having someone constantly underfoot and asking questions is annoying as hell! Fella was warned I have a short fuse, just roll with it . ::disgust::

Any who, that's my whine for the day. Pot is ready !!
::handshake::
Chris
i woke last night to the sound of thunder
how far off i sat and wondered
started humming a song from nineteen sixty two
aint it funny how the night moves

Thanks for opening up, Royal and a good morning to all the visitors to the Diner this morning. Not much to report on here. Our weather has been, and will be, typically hot. I am up early to go to Men's Devotional gathering this morning. Coffee is good and I'll follow it up with a very good breakfast taco.
Hope you all have a great day.

Good morning. It's just nasty looking outside here today, kind of dark, damp and gloomy. I'd probably be in a mood like Chris seems to be battling, except I just got my latest knife purchased from Scott, and bought another one from him. I just might become a collector again. Another one of my best hens didn't come into the chicken barn last night. One of my two Silver Laced Wyondots (I probably spelled that wrong but spell check doesn't know how to spell it either) went missing a few days ago, and her sister, the only one of her breed that I had went missing yesterday. Both were more pets than livestock so it's frustrating. They still might be hiding somewhere sitting on eggs but that isn't usually how this plays out. The rest of the flock are on lockdown until I can determine what's going on. I'll have one or two game cameras set up to see if I can determine what's happening. The fire crews are still doing battle north of us. The cool temps are helping but the rain we are having is petering before it gets to the fire zone. Our state government is too busy being Woke to be of any help so these firefighters are pretty well on their own. With that sour note, I'm off to work. Have a good day. It sure feels like a Tuesday.____Dave

Good Mornin', Folks.
Just got back from men's prayer meeting and we are enjoying a good hot cup! Miss Joy's was out in the yard with her scuffle hoe when I drove up. There were 3 deer in the yard when I left this morning and 2 when I came back. Don't know if the reduced size of our garden will survive Bambi and crew. ::shrug::
Foggy in spots today, started out with a low of 67⁰, probably get up around 90 today. Chance of rain tomorrow.

Good morning. I'm awake but my laptop isn't ready for the day. It's doing it's own thing like artificial not so smart as opposed to artificial intelligence. It might have something to do with the weather, which is still being nasty. Yesterday's winds were sustained at 40MPH and around 40 degrees. I might have to get out my long johns to go with the stocking cap, winter jacket and winter gloves I used yesterday. Two weeks age it was 100 degrees. It's raining right now but supposed to stop shortly and the winds today are supposed to be somewhat lesser. Jason and I are heading into the city for him to give blood and for me to pick up some sanding disks for the deck we are refinishing. Church tonight with supper, the last one before they take the summer off. Our pastor is starting a Saturday morning Bible study that I'll probably attend. He already has one during the week for retired guys which I'm not. Have a great Wednesday.___Dave
