Good morning. A nice mild soaking rain that started about supper time last night is supposed to be wrapping up soon giving us a decent day. We'll see. I have to run to Menards to get a receipt for a water heater we bought for a customer in March. It failed already and I can't find the receipt for his warrantee to pay for parts and labor to repair it. Last evening before it started raining I got my little pen built so my 6 month old chicks can go outside and not be bothered by the big chickens who free range the yard. The neighbor asked me if I have been having trouble with predictors this Spring. He said a fox was hanging around his place which is just through the woods to my South. I said no, but it wouldn't be greeted with anything but a shot gun if he did show up. Hopefully my dogs or myself will be outside to greet him if he does show.. Nothing planned for the weekend other than the regular weekend stuff. The past few knives I've found lately have stirred a little of the collecting bug in me and I'm getting restless. I do need to get into my safes to check on the rolls of celluloid's just in case. I've never had any of the older better knives fail other than several cracked ice Western fixed blades and some not as old German and the Remington re-pops that are known for doing that. My early New England knives all seem really stable and the rolls have about 60 knives in each roll and have done well for 20 some years, but I check every few months just in case. I'm off to feed my birds and have breakfast and do need to get moving. Have a good Friday and a great weekend.____Dave

Good Mornin', Fellers.
This morning it's foggy, the weather folks are saying it's hazy. At least we both agree on the temperature, it's 63°. Yesterday was pleasant, got to 83° but still no rain, maybe tomorrow.
Worked on our old worn out planters yesterday, still hoping to get a small garden planted. Also greased the tractor and the the cart. After dinner we watered the newly planted hedge and grass plugs, a full day of piddling around. ::nod::
Coffee's about to be poured.
Y'all have a great Friday! ::tu::

Good Saturday Mornin' to y'all!
Looks like we are finally going to receive a decent rain this morning! A big rain on the radar is maybe 30 miles west of us and coming our way. ::tu::
Nothing special planned for today, got the coffee brewing, nobody's up but me.
Enjoy your day and your knives!

Good morning. It appears we are in for a beautiful warm weekend with nothing pressing to do but enjoy it. Yesterday I bought three Ancona chicks that I sure didn't need but couldn't resist, hoping my Salmon hen that just hatched 6 eggs would raise them for me. She adopted them without hesitation. Not all hens will do that but she is a such a gentle motherly hen I was pretty sure she would and she didn't disappoint me at all. I'll spend much of the day piddling around the back yard and standing guard for predators while my adult chickens free range the yard removing all the ticks so our dogs stay healthy. It's not quite as fun a hobby as knife collecting, but it has it's rewards. I hope you all have a great weekend.____Dave

Mornin' Y'all

Beautiful picture Homer. Be careful as you travel today.

Really slept in this am; the wife and I were out kinda late last night. Woke up about daylight when thunder
shook the house! Just a light rain now.
No set plans for the day, just hang out here at home.

Light rain predicted for most of the day. Oh well. I don't have anyplace to go anyway.

My granddaughter bought chicks this year. So far, so good.

Good morning. Looks to be another perfect day ahead as far as weather is concerned. Yesterday was sunny and 70m degrees with no wind. We got a ton of stuff done around the yard and my birds were loving it. My new incubator showed up yesterday. I may put a few Bantam eggs in it to try it out, or not. I have a few too many chickens already. Church in a few hours and nothing else planned for the day. Have a great Sunday.____Dave

Good Mornin'!
A beautiful sunny Sunday morning, 58° after a gentle soaking rain yesterday. The rain started about 9am and stopped around 4pm, only 0.2 inches but it was so refreshing! We were able to hand plant several rows of the smaller, differently arranged garden before dark. Then it rained again, another 0.4 inches just after dark! Thank the Lord! Was a unusually dry April. ::shrug::
Coffee is almost finished, after breakfast we'll be heading out for church. After dinner we'll be involved with that Sunday afternoon nap. ::tu::
Y'all try to make it to church this morning, there's always room for one more.

Looks like it's wet across most of this great country. A bit damp and 60's here in the Great Midwest today. Forecast is 70's & 80's starting tomorrow for the foreseeable future. Sounds like a good day to stay in and watch the Cubs.

Good morning. I'm waking up to beautiful sunshine. I have no idea if it will last out the day and I'm not sure where we will be working today. We are waiting to hear from a couple of customers whether today will work for them, but the jobs are piling up so I suppose we best get to one of them. Have a good week.____Dave

Good Mornin', Dave and others to stop by the diner this morning! ::handshake::
My goodness, gonna need my fur lined flip flops this morning, it's 52°! We thought winter was over. ::shrug:: Sunshine today, chances of more rain returning during the week. We'll be entertaining Miss Joy's 2 sisters and a niece later in the week, I may have to stay in the woods! ::hmm::
Lots of grass to mow while the ground is still a little damp, it was just too dusty to mow last week. We put batteries in one of the game cameras yesterday afternoon and noticed the corn feeder is about empty. So a quick trip to the farm store is on tap, corn and mower gas, same stop about 3 miles up toward town.
Coffee's being poured.
Y'all have a good day!

Morning folks, rather nippy 45 at daybreak up to 52 now at 10:30 a.m. Nikki Dee sez off an on mist possible all day high in the upper 50's, this is what the Ole folks called black berry winter, I'm the Ole fart now and I'm saying it to.
Wampus was on the tractor seat, high and dry, I fed him a extra rasher of grub.
Late to the table just got home from having breakfast at the Cracker Barrel with about 20 Ole work buddies. I've always enjoyed my meals at the Cracker Barrel, but they've changed up the breakfast menu and I with all of my table mates are not happy. The gravy this morning was was watery thin, the coffee was was thicker than it was, ask for hard fried aigs and they was about half done, they've got wine and beer and mimosas on the menu and I'm thinking the cooks may have had couple to many. Rant over please excuse me.
Hope yawl have a good'un and be careful out there. ::handshake::

I crossed Cracker Barrel off my list of places to stop and eat when traveling about 8 years ago. Somewhere between LA and Phoenix I stopped for a late breakfast, scrambled eggs that were a greenish gray color. Thought I had crossed into Dr Seuss universe.

I've eaten at Cracker Barrel many many many many times, I've even eaten at the original. I've had exactly 2 bad experiences and this morning was one of them. They seem to want to be more upscale, get a younger clientele I reckon, they could end losing the old folk like me. ::handshake::

Very cold last night.

Lots of water forced my sister to turn back to the house when she was heading to church yesterday. I congratulated her on her prudence.

Another rainy day around here. Griffin just jump with a clap of thunder. I have a woodburning art project I'm working on for the kids at Vacation Bible School next month so that's what I'll be doing today. Have a blessed day and be safe.

Good Mornin', David and others who come by the diner.
59° this morning. According to the differing weather reports, we'll be in for a possibility of rain for the rest of the week. Probably the same system that David is experiencing this morning.
Got a lot done yesterday, planted some Zipper Cream peas, mowed everything on the south side of the house plus a small streak of old pasture down by Bee Branch, close to the main dirt road, where our friend puts some bee hives during the summer after the Tupelo bloom is over.
Men's prayer meeting at 6am, got to get going. Y'all have a great day!
