Roger, it’s a shame to see an expensive piece of equipment damaged / destroyed. I hope he has a way to harvest any remaining crops.

Wow Roger - Obviously completely damaged and hope he wasn't hurt - I assume that type of equipment is not covered by insurance?? - I imagine that equipment is also pretty expensive...

It's covered by insurance.(I'm his agent)He was shelling corn Friday evening and smelled some smoke. The main drive shaft universal was going out and he pulled it out of the field to where he could put water to it.He thought it they had everything doused and solved off and drove it across the road to the edge of the field and get parts to fix it in the morning. He got a call around 4 AM that it was on fire and pretty well toast.
He has another combine he can use.

Ouch. Not even a farmer with bailing wire AND duct tape is going to get that crispy critter going again. Looks like the head unit might be repairable, but everything back of that is past well done.

Re: Pictures of Miscellaneous Stuff & Things
That's always been a fear of mine - that some piece of equipment is going to catch fire.
Typically there's so much dust that you can't see if something is smoking. Can't even guess how many times I've stopped and checked, thinking (paranoid!) that I was seeing smoke. I keep a fire extinguisher in or on every tractor and truck. Fortunately I've only had to actually use one once - I smelled that one, couldn't see it until I got off and looked. Grabbed the fire extinguisher and stopped it before any real damage was done.
All my equipment is insured too, but I don't ever want to have to use it.

I have had 2 pieces of equipment on fire over the years. My round baller and my combine and in both case very minor and caused by bearings going out.It ain't fun even when things turn out OK.
The cornhead only had some melted plastic and some wiring damage.
