Another great old Bowie Pete! Never seen this mark before but internet shows they also made double shotguns and rifles.

Thanks! They had Sheffield makers sending them knives 2 I have seen so far are Joseph Rodgers and Mappin brothers I`m sure there are others but I am still learning.

Cogswell & Harrison ; London gunsmiths still in business after more than 200 years. Not sure how old this one is.

I think that`s late 60s but might be missing the brass back on Top of the blade.

I think that you are right, 65' to 73' ...

and now I can see where the two indentations on the side might have been where the brass back on Top of the blade was attached. Good eye P.K.

When you think about how old this knife is! 188- 195 years old ... It`s real thick and the handle has been redone but I love it.

Okay gurus, I have to ask this: what does it take for a fixed blade to be considered a bowie? I donβt want to put something on this thread that isnβt correct. I know I have 2 bowies, well because they say Bowie on them.
