Are There Any FOOTBALL Fans On The Forum?

If you can think of something to talk about that is not related to knives, discuss it here.

For me this was the highlight of the game broadcast:

This was a TV commercial that ran during the Super Bowl. The incident referenced happened in 2005 when Coach Lynn was running backs coach for the Cowboys. He and another coach, Todd Haley, had just left a restaurant where they had eaten dinner after a training camp practice. He was struck by a speeding hit-and-run drunk driver.

I was just coming in from closing up the chickens when my wife yelled excitedly “Anthony’s on a television commercial!” Anthony Lynn is from the nearby small town where we watched him grow up. We followed his football career from star running back in high school to All Southwest Conference at Texas Tech, NFL running back and then followed his coaching career.

And now a great commercial giving tribute to the first responders who saved his life that night over 13 years ago. ::tu::

Thanks for sharing that Ken, those Verizon commercials were the best of the evening IMO.

I grew-up *trying* to be a Ram fan, and a Ram game at the LA Coliseum when I was about 7 was the very first pro game I ever attended - but I ultimately gave up on them a loooong time ago. I reluctantly rooted for the Rams yesterday, but I also predicted they would disappoint me AGAIN - and, of course, they did...

This was the last Ram player I rooted for:

Here we are, well into NCAAF college football season,
and this thread has lain dormant since February !

The Bucs beat the Rams yesterday and the Bills lost.

My question is,,,,what the heck is up with Todd Gurley of the Rams? Why does he get so limited playing time??

::dang:: The fairhaired SEC teams are always overrated. We'll see whose best in the playoffs. Ohio State was kept out of the playoffs as well as the Quaterback for the Heisman consideration because of coaches poll bias. Probably will happen again to favor Alabama and the Sec! ftd

My understanding is that they overused him last year, and he ended up with some physical health problems (not from being overused, just injuries). They seems to be trying to keep him fresher so he will hopefully last the year. Last year, he was mostly a nonfactor in the playoffs. A healthy Todd Gurley may have won them the superbowl...

yeah heard the same thing but really? Jim Brown, Walter Peyton Barry Sanders, Emmitt Smith were used and abused. I think he's scared.

The Los Angeles Rams were unable to hold off the visiting Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a Week 4 shootout, and now many are questioning the logic behind some of Sean McVay’s decisions in the losing effort. Jared Goff was asked to throw the ball a career-high 68 times, while Rams’ RB Todd Gurley only rushed five times, a career-low, despite showing some burst.
It's always important to know what you don't know.
