Thanks! These are going to be addictive to carve. Giving the old Case seahorse whittler a work out. I was thinking about it the other day. I've been carving with this knife for 4yrs this March. It's carved a lot, I've lost track, but I'd guess getting close to 300 carvings so far.

Did you thin the blades any? Is it showing any signs of wear. Do you use one blade more than another?Doug51 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 28, 2021 2:06 pmThanks! These are going to be addictive to carve. Re: Wood carving projects
Scott the work and the grain in the wood are drop dead gorgeous. Most excellent work and a most excellent grained wood. Great Job!!!!

Re: Wood carving projects
Very nice, Scott. The dark area at the top of the handle gives it character. And, there appear to be a 'face' in the wood just below the dark area.
That's what I see, anyway. Nevertheless, very unique.

Re: Wood carving projects
I had to thin the edge on the main blade. It's the only blade I use. The two smaller ones flex to much to be of much use for me anyways.doglegg wrote: ↑Sun Feb 28, 2021 2:30 pmDid you thin the blades any? Is it showing any signs of wear. Re: Wood carving projects
Hadn't seen you post anything lately Doug, so glad to see these. To whittle a shotgun shell would have never crossed my mind. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Wood carving projects
Thanks. I don't have any new knives to share and I'm pretty happy with the current selection I have ,so the whittling is about all I have to share. I do stop in and read in the general forum every so often. Sometimes I feel like I'm posting to much stuffin the whittling forum.
Re: Wood carving projects
That's one of the good things about so many topics here. You can just pick the ones that interest you. And you are definitely not posting too much in the whittling thread. Not at all.

Re: Wood carving projects
Just finished this beaver and another bird my 4yr old granddaughter request so it could set on her finger she said! Lol.
Re: Wood carving projects
Very good Doug. Something your granddaughter will treasure.

Re: Wood carving projects
These arrowhead's are a fun carve. Add a little wood burning to dress it up.
Re: Wood carving projects
The wood burning does dress it up.

Re: Wood carving projects
Another carving I wanted to try checked off my list. An arrow through a heart
Re: Wood carving projects
Doug, if I ever get started whittling again I think I will try that one. You did a great job the hole for the arrow shaft sure looks tight. Great work.

Re: Wood carving projects
A simple dog carving. In memory of my dog max who passed away last year about this time.
Re: Wood carving projects
Super job Doug. And a fitting memory. You have discovered your gift. Thanks for sharing.
