 No chance of me getting a huge pile of any brand over here Dan.
A huge pile altogether yes, that could happen, but not from any one brand. ::paranoid::

Thanks Buddy! ::handshake:: Appreciate it! ::super_happy:: I can't put my finger on it but some knives (like this one) are just kinda ::hmm:: "special". They aren't really "special" but they feel "special" from the first time you put your hands on them. They have a "special" aura of friendliness. Yes, I'm crazy. ::nod:: ::dang::

No, you're not crazy Tom. I know EXACTLY the feelings you refer to. What you described is right along the same line as "Comfort Knives", and that topic has over 50 pages so far, so plenty of others also know what you mean. It's not every knife you handle, just the ones that feel special the 1st time you pick them up. 8)

Just came in this afternoon. Just sharpened up the blades, all took a great edge. Love the mid 50’s Kabars.

Super fast delivery but a disappointment. Compared to the stock picture the handles are washed out and a pale comparison.

It is a very nice knife and love a Trapper, but those scales do look very washed out. Sorry for the shady representation of the knife.

I’ve always admired Craftsman branded knives, but so far I’ve only bought one. I fear those rabbit holes you were previously warned about. I’ve been on a bit of a Camillus binge recently. ::paranoid::

jerryd - I can't tell you how many times that exact same thing has happened to me. I finally had to quit buying knives based on stock photos unless the handle covers are made of a material that has no potential for unique character (like Micara or G-10). Unless I can see the exact knife I am buying, knives with natural handle materials like stag, dyed/burnt bone, mammoth ivory, etc., is a total crap shoot because these materials are so unique that no stock photo can accurately represent the individual character of every knife in the run. More often than not, the stock photo will show only the very best example from the run. This is especially true for stag.

If your disappointment is enough to ruin your satisfaction with the knife, you could always try toasting it with a propane torch to add a bit more color. I've never done that myself, but I know others who have (with varying degrees of success). I've even heard of using your own dye or even a permanent marker to achieve the same goal. Obviously not the ideal remedy but may be something to consider. ::hmm::

Sure doesn't look as good as the one in the stock photo. But I'd carry the heck out of it. As light as it is, some use and age might give it some nice character.

Thanks Willie! ::handshake:: ::super_happy::

It's hard for me to bing on brands because my choices are a bit limited over here but I think that's probably a good thing for my wallet. ::nod:: It does put a damper on things though & can be very frustrating at times. I really like the Camillus 72 patern but then again, who doesn't.

Thank you for the kind words! Is it just difficult to find or import them into where you are? I ask because I am just unfamiliar with the regulations there. Obviously, where I am Ka-bars are very accessible.

Most of my knives, I buy on eBay Germany but the number & selection of American made knives is often very limited. The knives that I do buy in the U.S. (such as on the AAPK) I have sent to my Mom's house in Maryland & then when she sends us a package she puts my knives in with whatever she is sending us. ::tu::

Got these 2 8OT beauties in today from Jeffin. He had a great sell on his Second Life Knives web page and I couldn’t resist. Now I have to decide which to keep and which one to gift.

He’s still got a few on sale on his Second Life Knives web page. I see people asking $25 for plain Old Timers all the time, Jeff’s $39 8OT that has been customized like this is a steal of a deal for a quality product.

FedEx finally delivered my new Rough Ryders. The Tater Skin Brown Burlap Micarta Series.
There are a couple more in the series but I didn't want them. I really like these knifes and
they like me, I have the cut on my thumb to prove it. The brown micarta is very nicely done
but my pictures don't do them justice. I'll have more on the RR thread.
