Apparently that wasn't the best choice of words on my part. "Carrier" is the term I use for any knife that I regularly carry. While the Pioneer I showed earlier has been personalized with my initials and a small lanyard, it has the same tool set as my other two Pioneers.

Thanks, Marc! And would the "uninvited visitors" you mentioned earlier be customs officials, porch pirates, or some other sort of nefarious characters?

LOL! I was thinkin' more along the lines of a burglar Dan, but now that you mention it, a visit from an angry Customs agent could be in the making due to my using the shipping loophole to get my autos to me, although realistically it would be our federal police, the RCMP! I'm on the 2nd floor of a high-rise so porch pirates aren't a concern, and I left all the nefarious characters in my life in the dust many years ago! LOL!

I believe (with a very few exceptions) the tang stamp designs used on both the Alox and traditionals (with the exception of some size blades) followed the same time frame. According to this site,https://elsinox.com/.cm4all/mediadb/.20 ... cture-2600 it was 2011 when the tang stamp went to the one in your photo.Dan In MI wrote: ↑Thu Sep 16, 2021 4:12 pmThanks for posting that photo, Smitty. I suspect that's an old photo, as the V seems to have reverted back to being the same size as the other letters. Another possibility is that my eyes are playing tricks on me. (Assuming my eyes are okay, the change probably occurred around 2011, in line with the 91mm models.) This is the tang stamp on my recently purchased Pioneer carrier.Papa Bones wrote: ↑Thu Sep 16, 2021 6:00 am Here is a photo of the tang stamps from sakhome.com, showing mark side and pile side of the master blade.

That is a great testimonial! At that rate, I'll be carrying that Pioneer well into my 90s.kootenay joe wrote: ↑Thu Sep 16, 2021 2:02 pm I have a friend who is a contractor and bought his (Victorinox Farmer) new in early 1970's. He still uses it on a daily basis.
