Here are a few bone handles; the large one is an IXL, the 5 blade is a High Carbon Steel, The small one is a 4 line Cam., and right to left are a 4 blade unmarked, Catt., Challange, and M.Wells with a blade etch. ___Dave

JNB, what are the handles made of? Different.

Handles are green and creme colored mottled celluloid. Knife is also a whittler pattern.

Generally, cattle knives are 3 5/8 inches closed, but there are exceptions. Junior cattle knives are generally 3 3/8 inches closed. That is the only difference. Now then... there are Norfolk cattle knives, whittler cattle knives....

Well it is not a cattle knife; I would call it a stockman whittler, but it also has the gunstock configuration. Very unusual and very very nice, no matter what you call it. It is a beauty!

That celluloid color and pattern really appeals to me. Imperial sure made some special knives especially back in the pre-clamshell days.

I picked up that Imperial cattle knife for a fiver at the fleamarket. It measures 3.410" overall.

I dug into my safe today and found a few more. I think these are all cattle knives. Starting at the top are two Lakeside Cut. Co. knives, a Peerless, a Pal (this might not be a cattle because it has a sheepsfoot and a pen blade) a Jim Dandy, an Ulster 4 blade, a Rem serpentine horn, a Rem. celluloid, a 4 blade Wards, a Keen Kutter ebony, a LF&C celluloid gold waterfall, a Marshall Wells with slanted bolsters, a Keen Kutter serpentine small cattle in bone, a stag Utica, and a Pavian candy stripe. I have another batch I'll save for later.____Dave
