Some wonderful cattle knives, Dave! I was just on the North Shore, but I didn't see any of those lying about. ?
p.s.: Yeah, the Schrade Cutco is my favorite.

Handles are green and creme colored mottled celluloid. Knife is also a whittler pattern.

An Imperial cattle knife I picked up a while back. What is the dividing line between a cattle knife and a junior cattle knife? Is it by closed length?

Re: Old Cattle Knives
Generally, cattle knives are 3 5/8 inches closed, but there are exceptions. Junior cattle knives are generally 3 3/8 inches closed. That is the only difference. Now then... there are Norfolk cattle knives, whittler cattle knives....OLDE CUTLER wrote:An Imperial cattle knife I picked up a while back. Well it is not a cattle knife; I would call it a stockman whittler, but it also has the gunstock configuration. Very unusual and very very nice, no matter what you call it. It is a beauty!Jacknifeben wrote:Handles are green and creme colored mottled celluloid. Knife is also a whittler pattern.

That celluloid color and pattern really appeals to me. Imperial sure made some special knives especially back in the pre-clamshell days.OLDE CUTLER wrote:An Imperial cattle knife I picked up a while back. I picked up that Imperial cattle knife for a fiver at the fleamarket. It measures 3.410" overall.

Re: Old Cattle Knives
I dug into my safe today and found a few more. I think these are all cattle knives. Starting at the top are two Lakeside Cut. Co. knives, a Peerless, a Pal (this might not be a cattle because it has a sheepsfoot and a pen blade) a Jim Dandy, an Ulster 4 blade, a Rem serpentine horn, a Rem. celluloid, a 4 blade Wards, a Keen Kutter ebony, a LF&C celluloid gold waterfall, a Marshall Wells with slanted bolsters, a Keen Kutter serpentine small cattle in bone, a stag Utica, and a Pavian candy stripe. I have another batch I'll save for later.____Dave

Thanks Dan, until I saw this thread and started looking through my knives, I didn't know I collected them. I suppose one of these days I'll have to focus more.___Dave
