OK,

Small hijack here, as I've never carried this knife.

However, Hukk has been a prolific poster as of late and has contibuted much to the forums. So as they sorta say...this one's for you.

Wendell Carson Trapper... in black baleen.

For those who may wonder...baleen is what whales, those who don't have teeth, use to sort of strain their food. To me it has a feel similar to horn...but is made of Keratin.

It may not be quite as pretty as abalone, but I flat guar-an-tee they put up a big fight if you try to take it from their mouths.

Thanks for the picture El Lobo, I sure appreciate it. That is a fantastic looking knife and I really enjoy seeing it. Wish he would make more, I'd be on it in a second, an extremely rare handle material today. I know exactly what baleen is, basically it acts as a strainer to strain food from water. Even the largest mammal on earth, a Blue Whale is a "Baleen Whale", up to 100ft long and can't swallow anything bigger than a grapefruit, primary food is, I believe Krill, a 1/4 inch long critter that looks like brine-shrimp. So much for Jonah!
I just got back from a little R&R at Fort Bragg, CA. My wife and I stayed at a place right on the ocean where we watch Gray Whales in March. I always take a 60x spotting scope and watch the ocean. Today we got to watch a herd of porpoises (looked like Dall's Porpoises) feeding through a school of bait fish. They got to within 4-500 yards of shore, feel lucky to see that! I like that knife, Wendell does great worK!

I cant resist a good old soligen steel knife t ocarry, but I always like to have a neat little relic in case I run into a fellow knife collector.

THis is one of my favs to keep in a pocket for show.

Ok, so right now a Schrade Chip ST2, a Kershaw Scallion, and a CRKT M16-13Z. That's because my Camillus camp knife broke over a year ago and my two Leathermans are somewhat combersome for my daily needs.

Most of my other knives are MIA since our move 2-3/4 years ago. I didn't have them organized to begin with so as I recover them I'm going to try to be more organized. Other than that I haven't looked beyond the local area to find more interesting knives and everything for sale on the counters around here are locking folders of the old or newer styles.

Looks like it's time to buy a few nice knives and have more choices.

Nice to see so many every day knives.
I have a thing for Schrade knives. I also like Sog knives. I am glad to see other collectors too use Sog tools and Sog knives for every day use.

I EDC several knives. On one keyring I carry a Kershaw Li'l Zane and one another a Kershaw Two Can. The Two Can is on the key ring for my Expedition, which I used to pull my boat. The Two Can is great for cutting fishing line so I always have that with me if I'm fishing.
I usually carry a slipjoint in a stockman pattern such as an 8OT, a 197UH, a 61OT, a Frontier 4231 or 4131. I have a lot of Schrade Open Stock knives that I carry also, a 881, 889 or 834.
Sometimes I pick something different to carry like a 123OT or an old carbon steel case Stockman or a Schrade, Camillus, Kutmaster or some other brand of Barlow. Sometimes I will look through some of my used knives and pick something different.

In addition I usually carry a one-handed opening or assisted opening tactical knife like CRKT's Desert cruiser, a Buck 186, a Camillus Heat, a Kershaw Leek or other assisted opening Kershaws. Lately I have been carrying a Schrade XTAC was a drop point blade.

What's the point in having so many knives if you don't use them?
